He reminds me a bit of Jason Clark but maybe shorter by a couple of inches. Can he shoot like Clark? I know Jasons shooting improved year by year but he wasn't terrible to begin with Not sure as I was just going off of the short highlight videos I saw and he knocked down a good number of jumpers and a couple 3 pt shots in those. Clark was definitely a good shooter but I believe he only had 1 season (sophomore or junior) that was outstanding and then fell back to earth.

He reminds me a bit of Jason Clark but maybe shorter by a couple of inches. From my recollection, Clark was only about 6'2", but had some ridiculous wingspan in the range of 6'7" That could be right. Those arms picked off many a pass that led to some easy baskets in those days.

Akinjo was a much higher ranked player than these two. Not that it turned out too well. There’s a bigger force at play here. Staff needs to retain current talent. Have to hope those due back next season see the new players coming in as an improvement and moving the program forward. Beard was ranked in the 50s/70s a year ago, higher than Akinjo’s final ranking and higher than RJ Davis a year ago. Also, as I said in the other thread, plenty of PGs ranked in the 100-150 range are very successful in a defined role their freshman year. Look at Aaron Thompson for Butler. Hey Marcus Carr was in the 100-150 range...one of my favorite players this year....

Jason's percentages may have been down but there was never a point were I cringed if he took a big shot from deep....

I'd take two Jason Clark's in the backcourt every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Great news. I trained about 10 minutes away from Whitney Young in Chicago so I constantly heard about their basketball reputation from my colleagues who were from the area. I know Paul White went there and we have another good recruit from a great basketball program. Hopefully this will continue to open up the pipeline and also influence Kahlil Whitney to come to Georgetown to join another Chicago native.

Good get for the program and a good job by the staff coming in a little late and showing him enough to get a commitment from him. sounds like Kirby was the lead recruiter on this one, with Coach Ewing coming in to close the deal.

"He has shown the ability to run a half-court offense, defend the opposing team’s best scorer and has improved as an athlete and shot maker."
Also from the article:
“Playing for a legend, first off, you simply cannot go wrong. The coaches loved me from the beginning and they kept it real with me. They can help get me to the next level," Beard stated. "The fan base really caught me off guard, too, because they made me feel a part of something before stepping foot onto campus.”

Jason's percentages may have been down but there was never a point were I cringed if he took a big shot from deep.... Very true. I'd take two Jason Clark's in the backcourt every day of the week and twice on Sundays. If we did that they had better find a way to score upwards of 80 every night. Jason while an outstanding scorer with an average handle was perhaps the weakest on ball defender to ever play on a regular basis in backcourt for the Hoyas. To me his recruiting by 3 stands has a key point in the demise of his program from an extremely strong defense towards well we know what the last several years has been about.

Article from 247:
"I loved the family vibe they gave off," Beard said. "They made me feel at home. It’s hard to say no to an NBA legend."

Due diligence from Pat and staff: it looks like his summer was not the best, so he was determined to make this season count, and he has. I am not a scout nor a coach, just a fan, but I have a feeling about this kid. Tough kid that wants to be a Hoya.

"The fan base really caught me off guard, too, because they made me feel a part of something before stepping foot onto campus.” If you look at the comments on his tweet from yesterday, of the 34 comments I'm pretty sure 33 are Georgetown fans rooting for him to commit. Typically Georgetown fans get drowned out against bigger programs like UNC and Michigan on social media, but in this instance Georgetown fans definitely embraced him early and often.
