Does anyone know if Tyler is the primary ball handler and PG? The rebounding is impressive (and somewhat surprising). Really doesn't matter now with Dante proving that he can handle the job. Just need Tyler,Carey,etc...to help out....

Dante seems like he is very capable and I think will only get better, but they will need someone else to fill that role also. Carey is Ok with the ball, but I would be concerned if he was a primary ball handler for extended minutes. Hopefully Tyler can fit that role, from the highlights he seems to be able to handle the ball handling duties well.

After what we’ve been through, I just want our primary ball-handlers to get along and like each other. That will improve everything.

FWIW, I have heard whispers Carey might be a one year thing for us. Would be leaving a lot of money on the table to not go play overseas next year versus one extra year in college that doesn’t necessarily change anything in terms of his salary ceiling as a pro. Would love to have him however long he wants to be here though, he has been a bright spot for sure.

He’s 21 now and would be 22 by the time next season starts. Gotta figure his plan was one year of major conference ball to get some exposure and then off to play pro somewhere. But I would absolutely love to have him back next year. That said, all the more reason we’ll need Tyler to be a capable ball handler next season.

This is why I was confused with all the speculation over where the open schollie would come from if Aminu committed to Georgetown and enrolled the following fall. Just because Carey had two years of eligibility didn't mean he had to use it or that the Hoyas had to keep him for both of those seasons.

I hope Carey stays for next year, but if he feels it is time for him to start making money playing the game I would understand that. I think the Hoyas will need an experienced wing player/scorer for next year to help the young guys develop and Carey would be a perfect fit for that role. I really hope they land Aminu, but it would be a shame if that was at the expense of losing Carey.

Not ready to worry about next year but with or without Carey the team will be very young and limited experience. Other than Wahab and Tim, whose still very much a project, everyone else (not counting Carey) will be a freshman or sophomore.

We need Carey next year. He will take over the scoring role of Blair.

We need Carey next year. He will take over the scoring role of Blair. I would like to see Carey return next year as well. We could use a veteran guard contributor with all the new faces. A calming influence like Carey, who has a great perspective on the college educational opportunity, the transfer process, and gets it done on the floor in a very understated way, would be a great rotation piece next year. From last game, we’ve all talked and read about Dante’s breakout, Qudus’ block party and TJ’s promise, but what an efficient 19-5-5 with a timely offensive board and bucket and free throws from Mr. Carey. If you want to build winning culture, you keep guys like that around as long as they’ll stay.

“After what we’ve been through, I just want our primary ball-handlers to get along and like each other. That will improve everything.”
They don’t have to like each other they just have to like WINNING & the front of the uniform more than the back of it. McDung & Bratkinjo left the program when the going got tough. You don’t have to be a 2 bit choad rapper like RiffRaff off a drunk jag off Uncle to know that GEORGETOWN is better off without them.
Aminu, Tyler, Jordan and Dante....future is BRIGHT.

Disagree. It’s best when there is chemistry. But, yes, lack of chemistry between players shouldn’t be an impediment to giving your all for the school.

Cassidy Awards: Sunshine Prep Showcase
MR. STEADY: Tyler Beard
140 NATL
Beard somewhat quietly averaged 19.5 points in his team’s two games, as he scored in spurts and seemed to impact the game when his team most needed him. The Georgetown commit’s defense is solid, as his long wingspan gives ball handlers fits on the perimeter. Beard shared point guard responsibilities last week and was mostly sound when it came to decision making, save for a few mental lapses. The three-star simply doesn't make many mistakes during the course of a game.
Recruitment: Beard is committed to Georgetown.

Just what the doctor ordered...steady, doesn't make many mistakes, scores when needed and makes the players around him better...
