Going to be an uphill battle for us since he has gone on visits to several of these schools and it will be impossible to go on one to Georgetown given the pandemic. I’m sure the staff has done a virtual tour of the school at this point but I’m unconvinced a kid could commit to a school just by seeing it over FaceTime. Realistically our only shot here is if he wants to leave home and if Arizona and UNC are not serious players here. That would basically leave us, Creighton and Vandy, and even then Creighton probably fits a bit better for multiple reasons, style of play chief among them. Not optimistic about our chances at all. Would love to see us throw the kitchen sink at Brandon Murray.

The thing to keep in mind though is that Walton already took his 5 official visits this year (Arizona, UNC, Vanderbilt, Texas, Cal), so he would have only been able to take an unofficial to Georgetown. Like you said, I'd feel much more comfortable about this if he had visited Georgetown in some way, but at least it's not like he had to cancel an official visit planned for this spring. For what it's worth, I don't think he has visited Creighton either.

Time wasted here could have gone to securing Murray. ☹️

Time wasted here could have gone to securing Murray. ☹️ Says who? Were we ever inside track w Murray, or always behind URI and Ole Miss? Are we ahead or behind now? What about Walton - what makes you so sure we aren’t in front? Random, rampant negativity has turned this place into a drag

Just look at our recent track record in head-to-head recruiting battles and on the court. We haven’t fared well going after high school seniors. We seem to land kids who de-commit or transfer.

Hahahah what? What a neat story you’ve concocted in your mind... Or maybe you don’t realize that there’s is so much in recruiting that goes on that isn’t public?

Apparently if you’ve lost in the past you’re doomed to keep losing perpetually because all that matters in determining future outlook is the result of unrelated events from the past.

I don’t know if any of us on the board can actually say what it is we do and do not participate in. Unless some of you are secretly part of the staff which would be very cool but unlikely. Georgetown has been linked to some recruits that make my spider senses tingle given other teams that are in on them (cough Cisse cough).

If I thought there was even a chance that we paid players I'd want the whole house cleaned. Fortunately, I think there's no chance and see there not being a chance as a part of the Thompson legacy that some on the board think we need to move away from.

Difference between getting in late on a high rated recruit who has interest from top programs versus going after a local under-the-radar kid. Need to recruit more efficiently and not just scattershot.

Jack Magee never paid anyone. Do you mean Jack "3 & 23" Magee? Also, that was 50 years ago. Things do change. Biggest evindence re: Is GU paying recruits? If we've been paying recruits and getting these results? Then there is something seriously wrong with GU basketball. August... don't mean to pick on you. I don't think Hoyas pay recruits. Don't think they are contemplating such. But we are competing in the same arena with programs that do.

Need to recruit more efficiently and not just scattershot. This makes sense, but you also have to take into consideration what the actual individuals in the situation are feeling. Had Brandon told Ewing the first time they met, “I really appreciate you coming out coach but I just can’t see myself living in Georgetown and would rather move away” and then it was posted front and center in an article for all to see would that make you feel better? Again, you’re doing a lot of generalizing. The actual reality of the situation is likely wayyyyyyy more nuanced and recruiting is quite frankly an art form. Not every detail of a personal recruiting relationship is going to be broadcasted to the public. There are many unknowns on both sides.

Need to recruit more efficiently and not just scattershot. The fact that Walton remained open after he took his official visits means that he invited other schools to jump in late and that he’s at least considering Georgetown. Both Creighton and Georgetown were allowed to jump in late and have passed multiple schools that he took official visits at. I’m not saying to get your hopes up, I just don’t think that’s a waste of time.
