Who was the lead recruiter for LeBlanc, Alexander, Gardner? Coach Kirby brought in Alexander. He originally recruited him to LSU but didn't get a chance to coach him as the staff was let go before Alexander enrolled. I would assume that LeBlanc was a team effort lead by former Hoya Darrel Owens. Coach Orr was lead on Gardner. I really don't think any of this plays any part. I'm not sure if you're alluding to something?

Who was the lead recruiter for LeBlanc, Alexander, Gardner? Given Kirby's strong ties to the south and former presence at LSU, I would think he had to be lead on LeBlanc and Alexander, no?

Good to see those posters that are always absent on here in good times, like clockwork are posting on every thread they can find right now to spread their hate of the program & Coach Ewing... Given that I post all the time, I'll assume I am not one of the people you are identifying. That said, what do you expect? When things go really well, people flood the board. When things go really bad, they do the same. As someone who tirelessly defended JT3 to the bitter end, I am well aware of these people. That said, come on. As a fan, I am massively frustrated. Things looked up coming into this year. The tournament looked like a real possibility. The 2020 recruiting class was shaping up. And, now we are starting next year from a place and roster far worse than what Ewing inherited. To act like Ewing has no responsibility for this mess - and people questioning it are out of bounds - is really just taking being a homer to an extreme level. I don’t agree that it’s worse than what he inherited, honestly. Not happy with the players’ conduct and roster stability, but the on-court product is much better right now IMO. And let’s not pretend that in the current environment of college basketball, restocking talent quickly is all that hard. I’m more concerned with the type of person we are bringing in.

Well, we can agree to disagree on the first point. For the record, I actually think the 2019-2020 team will probably be fine and win a fair share of games. Are we thin? Yes, but Alexander and Gardner are easily the weakest of the guys on our roster. If we were going to lose two guys this season, they were the least impactful. Maybe I am being pessimistic, but restocking talent isn't as easy as you think, in my opinion. Keep in mind, it took us 2 full seasons to get to where we were at the beginning of the season, and it's questionable whether this group (with Akinjo, LeBlanc, etc.) would have even made the NCAA tournament at all. Things definitely looked optimistic coming into this season, but basically all of those reasons have disappeared, mostly because it was premised on four guys being on the roster next year who are now gone.

The staff should be held responsible for what a former student athlete does on Twitter? Really? for bringing him in to begin with. And it’s not as if his is an isolated issue. To be clear, I’m not calling for Ewing to be fired. I just think he now deserves a ton more scrutiny and accountability - as does his entire staff. So BIG Coach should've been held responsible for Victor Page's actions after he left Georgetown? Come on man. Everybody deserves a second chance. If Alexander had tweeted the young ladies name a week ago while still on the team, then yes Coach Ewing and the staff should be held accountable. He's no longer associated with the program and free to do any stupid thing he wants...

What kind of morons are we bringing in to this program? Such a bad look. Alexander’s tweets belie a total lack of common sense and intelligence. The staff should be held responsible. Even if Alexander is totally innocent as he claims, his tweets are indefensible, immature, and unwarranted. Now this guy has been dismissed by LSU, accused of misconduct at another university, and wants to carry his career on to a third one. It is actually a bit astonishing to me that the fan base is so quiet about Ewing and his role in this. Where is the accountability? If any coach oversaw this at another school, I have to think HoyaTalk's take on it would be drastically different. For the record, I am not saying one way or the other what should happen to Ewing and staff, but they certainly need to be responsible. They put the group together, and the group has fallen apart. There were a few of us who were holding his feet to the fire when this mess all started.

Nothing more than the assistants need to vet personality and off court behavior as much as on court prowess. If there was one lead on all 3 that would be a giant red flag of a blindspot that needs to be addressed IMO.

Hie did Alexander claim to have a 3.1 GPA when he’s in his first semester and exams aren’t even over?

If we were truly going to move on from this, then Alexander and Gardner needed to go. Not saying they were guilty. In the “me too” era, you are done once the accusation is made. You can’t spend four years on a college campus after these allegations. Not surprised if some teachers weren’t thrilled to be teaching them. This was mishandled all the way up and down.

The university's inept communications strategy undoubtedly harmed the reputations of its players. FERPA did not prevent the university from promptly acknowledging publicly filed civil complaints. FERPA did not prevent the university from clarifying that no criminal charges had been filed against their players. FERPA did not prevent them from advising their players on how to respond to inquiries from the media.
In the vacuum of a comprehensive statement by the university, the media went wild misstating facts and spreading misinformation. Alexander's comments are ill considered, but I am not prepared to absolve the university for culpability here for the situation.

All we can do as fans is support the remaining group of guys on the roster.

I don't anticipate a lot of griping about minutes now. Yeah, I’m good with it. At this point, I think there are 5 mpg available for me to play SG.

Getting hard to support / defend the university and this coaching staff. No matter what the kids did this whole thing is pretty unprecedented and embarrassing. I've been a die hard fan since I could walk but I've had enough. Going to show up tomorrow to support the current players but I think someone needs to be held accountable here (AD / Coach) If the lawyers tell the basketball office that it's "no comment", what else are they supposed to do?

Two Comments:
1. It seems that the University needs to make a statement, i.e., say something. 2. This whole episode(s) has been a disaster for the University and for the basketball team/program.

There's enough chaos around the program right now without loyal fans firebombing everything in sight. The coaching staff should be accountable for some of this mess, but let's not go crazy. Even good kids do stupid and sometimes illegal things. I do not know that the 4 players who left were thugs or predisposed to commit any assaults that they are now accused of. Nor do I know that their accusers are innocent victims. I simply do not know and I am constantly baffled by reading posts from those who seem to have taken sides--one way or another. I see a whole bunch of blurring of the lines going on here. We really do not know what happened in each instance.
Yes Ewing should be accountable because he is the CEO of this program and these events are occurring on his watch. However, if he ultimately departs I would hope it is because he is not yet ready to be a coach at a high major program and not because of these transfers and alleged incidents.
Finally, these departures are totally understandable and justifiable given the toxic environment created by the allegations. If any of these were my kids and given the incredible publicity that has surrounded these allegations and the rush to judgment against both accused and in some instances the accuser, there is no way I would want my kid to stay at he University--guilty or not. Gardner and Alexander have been judged--innocent or guilty depending upon perspective and bias of the individual. How can their time on the Hilltop be anything close to normal? The accusers face the same situation, but without the same spotlight. Still why would they stay when a start over elsewhere avoids the ongoing controversy.

Unfortunately you may be correct. Their character was judged and the players were defamed no matter the outcome. This is a pretty sad state for the team and University with no real details stated or proven. I wouldn't be surprised if the young ladies involved left too. It's like the appearance of wrong doing makes one guilty and puts a sign on one's forehead!
