the programs you are jealous of the coaches have been there for a while. None of them were apprentice head coaches. We’re stuck with Pat learning on the job and wishing that he’s a quick, not stubborn learner. That’s always been my biggest gripe about the hire. For a program needing a rebuild and one willing/able to spend, the fact we picked a coach with no college experience was severely short sided. It’s sour milk now, and hopefully he is learning. But it’s tough to say the damage that has been done by letting the program languish for several (more) years while our coach is getting his feet wet.

I thought we started the season with a damn good set of players. Sweet Sixteen and top-20 caliber. The problem was egos and bad off court decisions.

Providence totally smothering Nova at half, 30-18. What? I thought Cooley couldn't coach?!

Astonishing that Bey would foul out with 7ish minutes late in the game on Nova's home floor.
Not astonishing: Reynolds began his flop with the head whip BEFORE Watson even made contact with him for his 5th foul.

Egregious failure to block out there.

PC pulls it out in a 58-54 tractor pull in Philly. Nice job by the kids pulling that dead weight of a coach along with them, wasn't it?

Nova flails and flops on every three point attempt whenever a defender is within 5 feet of them. If I’m PE, I’m reminding this to every official next Saturday.

I am not a Cooley fan or think he stinks. Before this year I was neutral on him as a game coach and think he’s a great recruiter. That being said what he did this year is the sign of a great coach. His team was in shambles. He brought in an alpha PG that was playing selfishly an inefficiently and was killing a very talented team. Their early season was much like ours. Cooley made the tough decision to reign that player in and it changed the entire season. Must be nice 😥

Seton Hall handles Marquette rather easily on the road. Seton Hall vs Creighton might become the game for the conference regular season title now. That being said this BET feels as open as it has since realignment. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if any one of the non Weds night teams made it to the finals. Such a great tournament and it just sucks that we’ve been a non factor in it going on 5 years now.
On a related note I happened to catch UConn today. They are going to be a tough team next year and they are much better than their record would have you believe. They could legitimately run the table in the American and steal a bid.
If we are handicapping next year I think they might be a top 4-5 team just behind Villanova (who will be a final four team again of Bey stays) Xavier, and Creighton. Tough to gauge Marquette and Seton Hall because they are losing such dominant star players, but they should prob be in the middle of the league with PC (losing a lot but still have Duke, Reeves, and Watson) and Butler (somehow they’ll find a way). Then the three doormats will prob still hold their spots as despite another year for Anderson, I don’t see St Johns getting markedly better after losing Figueroa and Heron, while DePaul will lose Moore (and assuming Reed to the NBA) and this probably stays neutral too.
Unless we get an impact transfer, we are losing three starters (and our two best defenders) from a team that will likely go 5-13. Sure we’ll have more than six capable bodies, but thinking any one of our freshman will be a game changer is unrealistic. Lots can happen between now and next January (as we learned this year), so hopefully this pessimistic view will look silly in 10 months. But as it stands now, the conference could be even tougher next year.

Nova 5/30 from 3. 9/18 FTs. Nothing like a Georgetown game to end losing streaks and fix your 3-pt aim.

I guess some coaches are better at player management than others if that's the case.

Some players accept coaching/discipline and are willing to adjust, others just have to have it their way, and transfer...same coaching strategy, different players...
