I don't have an issue with you calling it marketing, whatever you want to call it they're doing a nice job for their program... What’s at the crux of the issue ... accessibility? Because the Georgetown Hoop Twitter Account has 25k followers, almost double that of Providence. Admittedly I didn’t spend time counting the average # of tweets per day/week, so maybe PC is much more active. Hoyas certainly have more eyeballs, if you believe social media counts. on edit: Hoyas Instagram 30k followers, PC 2k ... I think some of it has to with accessibility and more of it has to do with the program wanting to do it... This is what I'm referring to, Gtown fans don't see this type of coverage for lack of a better word...

But it seems odd that you keep complaining when Georgetown has been producing content very similar to what you posted since June or so.

You know I gave props to Gtown Hoops for the job they did during the offseason, I'm pretty sure you know that's not what I was referring to in my previous post or in my responses to DFW & NJ... Gtown Hoops had 2 posts yesterday and neither were about the team's 1st game. They could have at least tweeted out the write up from guhoyas.com right? Compare the two Twitter accounts leading up to & after their 1st games, if you think they're very similar then maybe I am irrational... It's all good though, I've been called worse... twitter.com/PCFriarsmbb/with_repliestwitter.com/GeorgetownHoops/with_replies

The program could just link to SLAM Magazine’s 7 minute YouTube highlight video of the game. 😉

But is the extra content meaningful? People use Twitter and Instagram for easy bite sized pieces of information. The summary Tweet with the stats of the Providence game got 216 likes, 4 comments, and 32 retweets. The Tweet with the game recap got 28 likes, 0 comments, and 4 retweets. By those measures, which Tweet mattered? By comparison, the very similar summary Tweet with the stats of the Georgetown game got 386 likes, 7 comments, and 104 retweets. Providence posted a video of the press conference, while Georgetown impressively posted a live video of the press conference (both got similar numbers of views). Meanwhile, over on Instagram, Georgetown had a post about the game with the score and a video of a dunk that has gotten 7,052 views and 1,560 likes, and 23 comments (to your point about Twitter content, maybe Georgetown should have cross posted this to Twitter). By contrast, Providence had a post about the game with the score and just a picture that has gotten 1,225 likes and 8 comments. So I while Providence is producing a larger quantity of Twitter content, Georgetown is producing Twitter content that gets more interaction and higher quality Instagram content. And just looking at the numbers, you can see how much more impact Instagram content has over Twitter content. It's similar to how most people under 40 could care less if the Washington Post is covering Georgetown, since they get their coverage from Casual Hoya, Hoyas247, the Hoya/the Voice, the Athletic, or Thompson's Towel. Ava Wallace from the Washington Post is great and her coverage of the Hoyas has been solid since Ewing came in, but it's just one of many Hoyas news sources now. I have never read the game recaps on guhoyas, and that wouldn't change if they started posting them on Twitter.

At this point, anyone complaining about a lack or coverage in the Washington Post should get OK BOOMER stamped on his head. It just really doesn't matter anymore.

You have to know that I'm not looking at twitter or Instagram stats in any way, I'm bored a lot as a middle-aged empty-nester but not that bored... As pointed out by DFW & NJhoya it's really not a fair comparison considering the amount of coverage PC gets from the Prov Journal & Pawtucket times, their fans get their fill from those sources... Maybe this is a generational issue, seeing that I'm not a fan of casualhoya or Instagram for that matter, I don't read the Voice or Thompson's Towel(?). I'm subscribed to the Athletic but I didn't realize they do game recaps for CBB so I'll check that out. You're right about Ava Wallace/Wpost... I like the GUHoyas write up mainly for the detailed box score they provide for each game. I especially like the 1st half/2nd half breakdown...

There was one short period to begin the second half when St. John’s was “playing just to play,” as Anderson said. Otherwise, there was urgency on both ends of the floor. There was disciplined shot selection – everyone doesn’t have the green light — and pressure. Anderson used his press sporadically, not a surprise given he has only nine scholarship players available for the time being, but it was effective.
He provided his players with a focused plan, and they followed it to a T. Look, Mercer was picked eighth in the Southern Conference. This was a weak opponent St. John’s has to beat. But I’ve made similar statements over the last several years against similar foes, and Red Storm have lost to some of these teams and let several others hang around too long.
That wasn’t the case Tuesday night. I saw a well-coached team that was prepared not just to win but to excel. It was in incredible condition, running Mercer off the court. Up big, the Johnnies were still hustling, pressuring the ball and sharing it. It was exactly what you wanted to see.

Glad to hear St. Johns is looking better in the early action but let's be honest... it wouldn't take a great deal of change to make an improvement in the team's discipline as compared to the last few years. Under Mullin they were consistently the least disciplined team in the BE by a wide margin.
