As noted months ago by this correspondent, this is Cornell's homecoming weekend and my friend is a Cornell alumnae, so I'll be there for the Hoyas and Big Red football game (after watching rugby earlier in the day, because, well...).
Cornell was beaten by Yale last week in New Haven after a 21-7 win at Marist; this is their first home game. They are not expected to be a .500 team this season, and the Cornell Daily Sun campus newspaper viewed the second-half of their schedule, including Columbia, as being very difficult to win. The hope in Cornell was that they'd win at Yale, and use that as a springboard to a homecoming game win against the Hoyas.
This game looks like it may be very winnable.

Here at the game. Pretty evenly played game so far. Cornell has had some difficulty running its offense from the shotgun because the snaps from center have been routinely coming in at the quarterback’s shoetops or on the ground itself.

Gutsy call on 4th down. I’m the only happy spectator in a sea of red.

just watched video highlights. impressive victory (I am also a Cornell grad alum) - beating CU on Homecoming - woo hoo. back to back on road vs ivies is some accomplishment. hopefully - this builds the positive momentum that will propel us through PL schedule.

Me too. I was there during the Marinaro years.

Another fun one to watch and great win at Cornell to spoil their festivities. The defense has really come up big in a few must stop scenarios. This is really looking like it’s going to be a fun season. I’d love the opportunity to replay Davidson today.

Our defense is terrific. very opportunistic. on offense we have shown the ability to pass over the top in the last 2 with success and the run game has been good. the offense in last 2 games was dominant in last 5 minutes when they had to be. its been fun so far.... I hope it continues

The loss by the home team did not dampen the spirit of Cornell students and alums...they were far more into the concert, fireworks and laser light show on Friday night than the football game on Saturday. Now, had Georgetown beaten Cornell in men's ice hockey...that would have dampened their spirits.

Almost a lifetime ago since the Big Red dominated college hockey. With Ken Dryden, Ferguson and Lodboa. Witnessed some great games against BU in the late 60s with only a handful of Americans on the ice. It's been close to twenty years since Cornell made a frozen four. Don't think those days will ever return to Ithaca

Cornell was pretty good in lacrosse in those days too. They were very good . A good friend played on the back to back championship team in 76 and 77. He still broke his dads heart by not going to Syracuse where his dad was a long time football staff coach.
