Incredible! And televised too, which is nice. Hard to believe this is a UCLA team that beat Maryland and lost to Indiana in 2OT. Channel?

That was an impressive a showing as I have seen for some time. An early bobble then just dominating in every facet. Wow this will be a fun ride!

Was the final 5-1? I timed out of my preview.

Riviere with first Hoya hat trick since Steve Neumann In the National Semis.
That’s rarefied air in Hoya soccer.

UCLA is 2-1 having beaten #1 UMD, 3-2 in which Milan Iloski score a hat trick. This will be a tough game for the Hoyas, as UCLA is very good at home. Go Hoyas!!! Boy, was I wrong!!!

Just your routine 4-1 thrashing of UCONN today.
Four goals from four different guys.
This team is loaded in the attack.

Just your routine 4-1 thrashing of UCONN today. Four goals from four different guys. This team is loaded in the attack. The offensive balance and goal-scoring distribution of this team is absolutely astonishing. 10 different players with goals on the year, by my count. By comparison, UConn came into yesterday's matchup with all 6 of their goals across 4 games having been scored by just one guy. I know which one I would find harder to scheme against! What might truly set this team apart and put them in an entirely different class is the depth. Given college soccer substitution rules, having tons of guys who you can bring in and hardly skip a beat - especially on offense - can be a huge advantage. Among other things, it puts on the table the option of running your opponents ragged, which is a strategy the women's team has used successfully over the past few years on their way to beaucoup hardware. Coach Weiss was...let's say guarded in his post-game comments: I'm not gonna disagree with the expert here, but my take is that at least some of the reason for those stretches of...imbalance? is that when you're trying stuff, sometimes it doesn't work, and it takes you a little time to regain your posture. This team has the pieces and the attitude to try out a bunch of stuff, and that's what they've been doing. It's less deliberate and more improvisational, at least in the run of play. But the proof has been in the results. Given the alternatives, I would rather keep the dynamism at the risk of exposing yourself on occasion - that's where your back line and your goalie have to step up.

What I'd like to call attention to from this set of highlights is Dante Polvara's goal. We've seen him score a couple of times before, so I want to frame what we saw here: this is not a goal-scorer's goal. This is not the kind of goal you score if you are a poacher, floating just outside the periphery of the action, waiting to receive a timely pass or jump onto a fortuitous arcing cross. No, this was a bang-in-the-rebound goal. It was an inelegant, Johnny-on-the-spot goal that could just as easily have been rammed home by a center back. What I am thinking about is what it means to have a player like that - as a freshman, no less - who is willing to get down and dirty but also capable to blasting golassos at distance. I said before, after a few games, that Dante Polvara looked like he was dangerous. I made have been selling him short in that assessment. He might be *deadly* - the sort of player that opposing teams have at the top of their scouting report. To have that sort of weapon, on a team full of offensive threats, is to know excitement. Every single game now looks like a canvas on which to imprint excellence.

Hoyas 3, Bulldogs 0 at the Toilet Bowl.
It took the boys some time to solve the puzzle in their first time out on turf (I think), and Butler got a handful of looks over the course of the match. But, realistically, it felt the entire time like Georgetown was just going to grind the opponent into dust.
When the opposing team's announcer is openly wondering what in the world the coach has to work on, you know you have something special on your hands. Not that there isn't still plenty of improvement to be had - complacency is the kiss of death in sport. But watching this match felt like watching a genius cat playing with a Rubik's Cube mouse: only a matter of time until the right combination emerged and the final outcome was set into stone.
The number of offensive threats on this team is absolutely ridiculous. It almost makes you forget how talented the defense is. Almost. 0 shots on goal for the game for Butler. That ain't gonna work.
Get on the bandwagon, everyone - this team looks primed to take all comers on a ride.

Loaded. There is no other word for the offensive capabilities on this year’s Team.
Weapons at every position; rock solid defense and solid goalkeeping.

Tough loss.
In the big picture, this one does not hurt and is good training for what the boys will see in post-season.
Just shocking to see the offense sputter after such a great start to the season.
On second look, the absence of Sean Zawadzki was a key factor.
At full strength (which we have yet to see) this team is a legitimate title contender nationally.

The Hoyas were outshot 11-5, but all five shots were on goal to 3 SOG for Provy.

I saw the second half live, and most of Provy’s shots were blasted from outside of the box.
