Not to mention, why would they want to play there? This is a rare chance to play at McD which should, in theory, be a real home court advantage. Our NIT match-up versus UTEP at McDonough years ago was one of the funnest college games I have ever been to.

I finally have moved on from Thursday's disappointment and am actually excited to see the NIT bracket. I think the possibility of postseason games, the chance to get a 20th win, more experience for our young guys, etc. are all good things for this squad.
The NIT tends to be a weird tournament as far as the teams you can face. On one hand you will have talented high major teams, either angry they just missed the tournament or completely unmotivated for the NIT (Clemson, NC State, Texas, etc.), mid-major teams that won their conference regular season titles (Belmont, Hofstra, Lipscomb, Campbell, etc.), teams who didn't real have NCAA aspirations and are glad to be here (Georgetown, Xavier, Memphis, Furman, UNCG, etc.), and then teams who had disappointing years that should have been in the NCAA tournament (Indiana, Alabama, St Johns?).
So all in all it makes for a diverse field with varying levels of motivation. If we are somewhere in the 2-3 seed range, it probably means we are playing one of the conference winners who didn't win their tournament (say a Hofstra or Harvard), but if we are in on the 4 or 5 line, it's likely we are playing a similar high major school with a mediocre resume (say a South Carolina or Nebraska). Given we are a team who seems to struggle to find our own motivation, I'm not really sure what is a better match-up for us, and ultimately it probably will come down to the personnel of the other team. Some of the mid majors would have real trouble matching up with Jesse, something we saw in OOC schedule, while other high major schools have guys that can match him physically.
Nonetheless I am excited for at least another game, and look forward to seeing the bracket unveiled later. I realize all of this is going on the presumption we are in the field, but don't think there's anyway we aren't in the field given our T-3 finish in conference and our 19 wins. I would think the BE gets at least 3 teams in Creighton, Xavier, and us.

So you want to count the conference tournament? Great, since 2010. Phew, we should all feel better. But Aren’t you counting this year’s NIT? I’d say the Big East is a more meaningful tournament. In that case, why not count the Charleston Classic? Or what about Maui after we lost to Kansas?

I realize that this is totally unrealistic/selfish as well as a huge insult to our seniors BUT I'd love to make the NIT games a showcase for our frosh, including Carter, and use seniors as subs. Who cares if we win the NIT. I've seen enough of Govan/Mourning to last a lifetime. I want to see our frosh play 30 minutes and especially allow them a long leash. I'm so over the JT3 (excepting Kaleb) leftovers that I'd even support letting Pickett play 20+ minutes. Okay, folks let me have it. Play Carter for Mourning, Blair for Greg, go small-ball when gentle giant Govan is looking at the flowers and the rest can stay the same. We’re looking at 2019/2010.

One more season, and it'll be over for good. Unless he'll request a transfer if he already has his degree in hand.

Since the Hoyas are in as a 3 seed, I am locking this.
