Good game for those players to catch — from the Johnnies’ point of view.

CHSAA is one of the top traditional high school leagues in the country. From last year's Stepinac team, Alan Griffen plays for Illinois. Ty Jerome, point guard for Virginia, played for Step's Archrival Iona Prep, as did Vanderbilt's Matt Ryan. Isaiah Washington from St Rays is a sophomore point guard for Minnesota. Every year the league sends a handful of players to D-1 schools; member schools include legendary names like Cardinal Hayes, Christ the King, and Molloy. Many players get picked off by prep schools - Butler's Jordan Tucker played for Step for a year, as did LSU's Aundre Hyatt before heading out - but the competition is serious

Ewing doesn't mind recruiting short guards.

I overheard Pat talking the other day, and he said he wants a team of guys that are either over 6'10 or under 6'2. Nothing in between.

Staff is moving quick with this one! Good sign that he is responding to their interest so quickly. I would think he has some genuine interest or he would not be making the trip down to DC during his season. Timing would be great if they could land him. Akinjo would be a junior when he arrived and would be a great mentor for him. Their games seem similar, at least their size, with Davis maybe more of a scoring lead guard and Akinjo more of a traditional PG. Adding players that allow the Hoyas to play at a fast pace seems to be the focus of the staff.
