Also a born turnover and will never be as good a player imo. And Akinjo won’t ever be the defender that XJ is. 2 sides of the court... And "XJ" will never see the whole court or pass the ball like Akinjo can. Which is why Akinjo is and will be the better player, at least for the pg position.

So Bossi claims he has heard nothing about whom Davis is leaning towards but makes a guess that Pitt will be the choice. Is he lying and has actually gotten some intel from sources but has been sworn to secrecy? Could be although if a person told him to stay quiet about whom he got his info from that would seem serious enough to suggest the same person would also prefer Bossi not hint, even under the guise of a guess, what school Davis is probably going to pick. So if I take Bossi at his word he may instead be going by information a couple of weeks back from Davis’ inner circle that Georgetown and Pitt had positioned themselves at that point better than the other two finalists, Marquette and North Carolina. So perhaps Bossi is looking at it as a tossup which he has a 50% chance of being right with his prediction.
Still, why Pitt? Georgetown has been on Davis the longest, he has attended their games, the Hoya staff have stayed on him without much letup, Gtown got the first official visit which from all accounts went very well, the Hoyas matched Pitt by having four coaches at the open practice, the Hoyas get the last in-home visit this week (it may have already occurred) and one report last week even stated that Davis will take another unofficial visit to Georgetown in the coming weeks. If that last bit of news is true I would think I would see that as a huge advantage for the Hoyas. Even if its not true, with the home visit this week the Georgetown staff have a last shot to make an impression on Davis AFTER Pitt just finished with its last shot.
Then of course there were the very encouraging remarks Davis made last week regarding his final four. The things he said about Georgetown, including the relationship building and name-dropping players and coaches, appeared on the surface more positive than the other schools, including Pitt. This summer he retweeted one or two times in regards to current Hoyas playing in the Kenner League. Not to mention that between Pitt and Georgetown, the Hoyas program right now is in much better shape than the Panthers in that its not a bottom feeder of its conference. But if Davis likes the idea of playing in the ACC more there is nothing that can be done about that. I know I’m bias but if I was making a guess based upon all the data collected I would have guessed Georgetown. Maybe I'm trying to convince myself.
The Daniels’ remark I don’t worry about as much. It wasn’t a prediction, it was an opinion that Davis was more likely to choose Pitt than a couple of other highly regarded recruits that a Pitt fan asked him about. He thinks the Panthers are in a good spot for Davis but he apparently thinks that as well about Georgetown based on his interview on the Kente Korner podcast. I’m old enough to remember when he or someone else revealed that the Notre Dame coaches were confident of their chances for Terrance Williams.
Anyway that’s my two cents. I still feel this kid is a Gtown lean but we’ll all find out soon enough. Until then I’m gonna stop over-analyzing any further details and just let this one play out.

Any time table for a decision? Was not sure if he would decide in the early signing period or wait till spring.

Knowin nothin 'bout nothin, I like Georgetown's chances against Marquette and Pitt. UNC, I have no idea - they have the cache to come in last minute, crash the party, and walk home with the pretty girl.

Looking at it objectively Marquette looks to be the best bet for Davis in my view especially considering how similar his game is to Howards who'll be gone after this season...

www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/27653018/welcome-visit-season-college-basketballPittsburgh gets shot at top-40 guard One of the big reasons for optimism when Jeff Capel took over at Pittsburgh was his recruiting ability, with Panthers fans hoping the coach would upgrade the talent level on the roster. Capel has done that, but he has yet to reel in a marquee recruit. He'll get his chance to woo senior guard R.J. Davis (No. 40) this weekend, as Davis heads to Pittsburgh for his official visit. Davis has already been to Georgetown, and is expected to go to Marquette next weekend and North Carolina in October. Capel and the Panthers have made Davis a priority and sit in a fairly good position heading into the visit. Marquette is squarely in the mix and is pushing hard. North Carolina has some other guards on its board and just offered Kerwin Walton.
Prediction: Pittsburgh Confidence level: 65% Others in the mix: Marquette, North Carolina, Georgetown

If by mention you are counting typing the name Georgetown. By most accounts its a two team race (Pitt and GTown)....you would think we are a throw in school from that article...

Call me paranoid but this article really read like it was selling all the other programs. "If sophomores McClung or Akinjo were to leave for greener pastures/NBA, Davis could definitely be a Hoya" but he could "definitely start day 1 at Marquette or Pitt". No mention that Marquette will have 2 PG returning next year or that Xavier Johnson has to leave for greener pastures/NBA...

Bossi: I’m going to go a little down the list and go with R.J. Davis. He’s down to a final four of Georgetown, Marquette, North Carolina and Pittsburgh (where he visits this weekend). The Hoyas have a pretty dynamic backcourt tandem in sophomores James Akinjo and Mac McClung, but Davis gives them deep shooting they lack. Marquette has to find a way to replaces Markus Howard, Pitt needs a shooter and UNC needs insurance for Cole Anthony’s likely departure to the NBA. Reading this one, I do think it’s going to come down to Marquette and Pitt. For now, I’ll give the slight edge to Jeff Capel and the Panthers, but if they can’t lock him down this weekend, things get really interesting. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rivals-roundtable-valuable-pgs-big-visits-commitment-watch

By "ONCE AGAIN IT'S ON" does Jeff Capel mean the pattern of NCAA violations that got him booted from Oklahoma?
(I know that an assistant was blamed/took the fall, and I can also offer you a great deal on a bridge)
