I think the fault lies a bit more with the person who made up the story, not as much with the people who were sympathetic to him... Fault lies more with the liar. However, grownups seeking high office have a duty to rein in the inflammatory hyperbole or own up to their mistakes after the fact. The old “never mind” does not fly here. We already have a President who works the “never mind” angle. We don’t need more. I don't disagree. Their comments were way too intense for my liking. But it sounds like you are holding them to a higher standard than the current occupant. There definitely seems to be one set of rules for him, and one set for other folks.

No.
Sadly, I have given up on his acting the part of a grown up.
As Big John once said, “you can whip a mule all day long and it will still never win the Kentucky Derby”.
Trump is what Trump is.
Those seeking to replace him should aim higher.

I agree, but the standard can't be perfect. The rhetoric was definitely over the top though.

“jump on a grenade” for the president... Unusual job description for AG This article is really long but worth your time. Shameful behavior on display... Ordering McGahn to fire Mueller, floating pardons, & now asking Whitaker to replace the head of SDNY criminal probe: It's evidence of corrupt intent, Andrew Napolitano says on Fox, referring to Trump asking then-AG Whitaker if a Trump ally could be put in charge of federal probe into hush-money payments to mistresses. Asking to put an ally there "is clearly an attempt to obstruct justice." “I’ve never seen anything like this before,” Judge Napolitano said. “A sitting president of the United States using his allies in Congress to interfere with an ongoing criminal investigation. This breaks new ground”

Elvado, how come Fox News keeps Napolitano as an analyst if he keeps calling it like he sees it and not follow the party line?

Really, it’s extraordinary. Good for you!

Paging Senators Giloibrand, Booker and Harris. We need your hot take on the charges against Jussie Smollett.
Clearly racism/homophobia are at play here and the cops are just after him because of race and sexual orientation right?
Why are these leaders so quiet?
We need their enlightened leadership right now.

Trump Presidential Campaign, Trump Inaugural Committee, Trump Organization are nothing but racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) headed by one Donald J. Trump. "I alone can corrupt anything!"
And the morally bankrupt Republican Party is complicit in the rampant corruption. And if you voted for him or support his agenda, you too are complicit.

I forget to which office Jussie Smollett was elected. As far as I can tell, "liberal" outlets have covered the latest developments in this story thoroughly. The same can't be said for the "conservative" media. Compare this guy's apparent lies with Trump's, "Some very fine people on both sides" and the coverage they received. Smollett will get what's coming to him. I can only hope the same can be said for our President.

It is not Smollet’s office that matters; it is the office sought by the likes of Gillibeand, Harris, Booker, Et al who dove right in race-baiting and “lynching imagery” and then went mute when confronted with the truth. When Al Sharpton is the grown-up on an issue, there is a major malfunction.

You're more upset with them for believing it than the a-hole who made up the story. I would think by the way you're acting you would care about people waiting for facts before opening up their big ol mouths but then I remembered you support Trump and.... idk.... It doesn't add up..

That Smollett is a liar and an Edited and was willing to trade in false racism and false homophobia is not in doubt. That these “leaders” refuse to be accountable for their hyperbolic reactions and willingnesss to carry that message without an iota of critical analysis is equally not in doubt. That they have not walked back their comements publicly shows they have feet of clay.

Despite knowing all the facts does Trump regularly dismiss them in order to pursue his preferred narrative? Still supporting?
