My random posts of the last two days (Best Hoya name, best jerseys) seemed to work in getting people to talk when there is nothing to talk about, so here's #3 in the installment:
One day in the future, McDonough is going to be renovated. How many games are played there is a mystery, but it will happen eventually. So when the Hoyas open their new home, what should it be called?

I like JT court at McD arena. Keeps the original name and honors the man who made us in basketball. And it'll eventually end up being called the JTC or something like that. JT3 leading the Hoyas to victory at the JTC. I like it. Let's do it. Even if it won't help recruiting

I vote for the Lance Armstrong Arena.
This, of course, to honor the memory of our 48th President, who history will honor for bringing peace, harmony and cardiovascular fitness to all peoples across the globe, before tragically succumbing to old saddle sore injuries and passing away in the year 2038, near the end of his second term.
Who can forget the touching eulogy by First Lady Sheryl Crow, capped by a heart-rending rendition of "Strong Enough."
Groundbreaking for the McDonough renovations began, as we all will remember, just a few short years after the passing of President Armstrong.
(seriously, anything with John Thompson in the name is OK by me)

i wouldn't mind "john thompson court at (corporate sponsor) arena and convocation center" Money anywhere they can get it!
But how about John Thompson Court at Alumni Convention Center if all those NBA guys kicked in to finance it?

Why the need for "Convocation"? Why not just The John Thompson Center or The John Thompson Arena?

And it'll eventually end up being called the JTC or something like that. You know it would really end up being called "The John"

Why the need for "Convocation"? Why not just The John Thompson Center or The John Thompson Arena? Because the locals will NEVER agree to allow us to build an "Arena". But a "Convocation Center" that would be used for all sorts of campus-wide events is a different story. It's really just semantics, but a distinction that GU needs to make if there's any chance of it happening, now or after the death of President Armstrong.

No matter what we decide to name it, people will still say McDonough. The name change might have worked with "The Ryan Administration Building", which btw now looks awsome as the "Performance something something", but never for McDonough. It has sooooo much more history than Ryan. People just won't forget. Some might even get mad for switching the name. I like the JTs but they have a strong sense of tradition along with renovation ability. They wouldn't want to change it.

JT deserves some kind of memorial for what he did for GTown, but McD has a ton of history and can't just be discarded.

Better yet . . . The Rack!

If they dig down to build the arena, I would recommend the hole on the hill center.

How about a nice bi-partisan fundraiser to get this thing built?
"The William J. Clinton Arena at the Antonin Scalia Convocation Center"

This dual name crap is weak. One arena, one name. I like Thompson Fieldhouse. Does "fieldhouse" have a specific definition?
