New article on 247 today that says MD has emerged as the clear favorite - "While no decision is set to happen soon, Cornish could be someone who pulls the trigger at any time because of his familiarity with the program and how close it is to home for him.
Other schools remain in the mix and are working hard, but right now all indications are that the Terrapins have put themselves in a very good position with Cornish and they have emerged as the clear team to beat going forward."

What significance does August 21 have? He said it is his birthday.

HES GOING TO MARYLAND IN CASE YOU HAVENT HEARD. Why make a top 6 list if it is a done deal? Is it just part of the media hype for these kids? I feel like if they are still making their lists, there could be a chance (however small). But, maybe that is just wishful thinking.

The prognosticators may be correct but the fact that his commitment date is August 21st and not May 21st gives me hope that his mind can be changed if the staff is still interested in his services...but if not there are other '21 wings...

A four-star wing in the 2021 class, Ike Cornish recently cut his school list to a final six last month that features Georgetown, Maryland, Rutgers, St. John's, Virginia Tech and Xavier. The Baltimore native, who is completing his high school career at Legacy Charter School in Greenville, S.C., has also set his commitment date for his birthday on Aug. 21. While he will likely make his decision before he can take an official visit, my FutureCast is on Maryland for Cornish and I doubt that I would change it between now and his decision. However, if there is one school that could step in the way of the Terps, it is Xavier. The Musketeers have been involved longer than Maryland, which just offered in April. However, the appeal of returning closer to home for college, and Maryland’s only added priority in keeping the best local talent within the area, could equate for a strong addition to the Terps’ 2021 class in two months. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-travel-ball-moussa-cisse-memphis-transfers

Exactly the kind of recruit we need to start landing but have been missing.
Making a final 6 list but never really being seriously considered as a frontrunner or potential leader is really getting old.

Man... I know this was somewhat expected, but still hurts. 2021 class seemed like the perfect opportunity to get a Wing to stay home (between Cornish, Benny, Jakai Robinson, and Quincy Allen) but now two of them are gone and apparently Robinson is rather keen on Seton Hall.
I know it's still early, but hoping we can turn things around so we're not scrambling come Spring time

Meh. There are a good number of big SG/SF types we're involved with at this point. Gimme Gabe Dorsey and/or Casey Simmons and I'll be happy.

Pat could have hired Tony Skinn and they would have had a strong presence in the DMV. Willard was smart and snatched him up when Shaheen got the St Peters job.
Waheed, Orr and Kirby haven’t gotten it done in the DMV. It’s odd considering this is Kirby’s 2nd go around at Gtown. He should have connects here by now. Same with Waheed. He’s a Gonzaga Prep guy if I’m not mistaken.

Georgetown isn't even a threat in a lot of these recruitments. Like Cornish and William's had us on their lists but didn't really consider them.

On the face of it, that just seems ridiculous. GU made it to a final list for each of them, which had been cut - I'm assuming - from an original list of contacts 3 or 4 (or more) times that size. So what information do you have that they "didn't really consider" us?

Sometimes it is just out of courtesy to the staffs recruiting them. I know that for these 2 local guys, Georgetown was never a serious option.

There’s a whole world of a difference.
