Just another criminal "Republican" Former Tenn. state senator sentenced to 21 months in campaign finance scheme A former Tennessee state senator was sentenced Friday to nearly two years in prison for violating campaign finance laws while running for Congress — charges the Republican once described as a “witch hunt” before he pleaded guilty to them. Brian Kelsey, who unsuccessfully tried in March to take back his guilty plea, was sentenced to 21 months in prison after a hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/08/14/brian-kelsey-prison-sentence-tennessee/

Where is the "and I take full credit for that" portion of the statement? Not coming, I guess.

Floridians are going to have to decide if this is the kind of approach they want to protect their public health. Their governor is too busy running around the country saying he is going to have potential immigrants shot dead at the border to pay attention to protecting the people he supposedly represents.

Their governor is too busy running around the country saying he is going to have potential immigrants shot dead at the border to pay attention to protecting the people he supposedly represents. Although I probably shouldn't admit this, when I read this little blurb I broke out laughing, even though it's anything but funny. First DeathSantis appoints that moron as the state's lead doctor, and now this. I told my doctor wife this, and she said how can that be, leprosy and malaria are third world country diseases. So there you have it. DeathSantis is turning Florida into a third world state. Instead of his slogan where woke goes to die, it should be where people go to die.

Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! I foresee a bankruptcy proceeding in his future but no way that he catches Mango in that department. Judge finds Giuliani defamed Georgia election workers, orders sanctions A federal judge has found former New York City mayor and Donald Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani liable for defaming two Georgia election workers who he falsely accused of tampering with the 2020 election results. Giuliani will still go to trial in D.C. federal court on the amount of monetary damages he owes to Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ArShaye Moss for defaming them. But Judge Beryl A. Howell has already ordered Giuliani to pay roughly $132,000 in sanctions between his personal and business assets for failures to hand over relevant information to the plaintiffs. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/08/30/giuliani-defamed-georgia-election-workers/

This is concerning, again. He needs to retire immediately. He is not up to his job physically. Sadly, this epidemic of past their prime leaders hanging on to power (or in some places being propped up by sycophants) like grim death is coin of the realm in DC.

And somehow Republicans have convinced so many working class white people that they care about them. “As long as you keep banning books we don’t like, we’ll keep dying of heatstroke because you won’t let us get water.” I just do not understand the working class Republican voter at all. They complain that they work too hard and that their wages are too low, but keep voting for people who ensure poor working conditions and wage suppression. It makes absolutely no sense. I guess if your hate for minorities, LGBTQ+ people, and immigrants is all-consuming, it’s all okay and you’ll keep voting for people who hate the same people you do. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna102580

The GOP cult. What a hypocritical s-show. Ex-employee sues CPAC alleging racial bias, defamation by Schlapp, others A former employee of the Conservative Political Action Conference is suing the group, alleging racial discrimination and defamation by her former bosses, including the influential organization’s leader, Matt Schlapp. Regina Bratton, who worked as a communications and marketing supervisor in 2021 and 2022, said in the lawsuit filed in federal court in Virginia on Friday that she was the only African American employee out of about 30 employees, interns and volunteers across CPAC. She claims she faced hostility up and down the chain of command. CPAC leadership “conspired to and embarked upon a systematic, concerted effort to create a hostile work environment,” the suit alleges. The suit seeks $55 million in damages. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/09/01/cpac-matt-schlapp-lawsuit/

Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! The judge presiding over the upcoming damages trial against Rudy Giuliani said Friday she will tell jurors that the former Trump lawyer intentionally hid financial documents and other records in defiance of court orders. In a five-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell said the move was necessary given "Giuliani’s continued and flagrant disregard of this Court’s August 30 Order that he produce financial-related documents concerning his personal and his businesses’ past and present assets" and other pertinent information. www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/judge-punishes-rudy-giuliani-flagrant-disregard-court-orders-rcna120412

Cowardly MAGA GOPers afraid of a 15-year old asking questions. DeSantis, just another fake tough guy. Pathetic. A 15-year-old known for tough questions was kicked out of a GOP event Quinn is not a journalist, a political strategist or even a voter. He’s a 15-year-old high school freshman who, despite his age, has become a fixture on the New Hampshire presidential campaign circuit. His consistent presence and pointed questions at town halls and rallies led former New Jersey governor Chris Christie (R) to describe him as “America’s most famous political teenager,” according to the Globe. On Friday, Quinn was kicked out of the New Hampshire Republicans’ First in the Nation Leadership Summit after a volunteer accused him of being a Democratic operative, according to Quinn and state GOP officials. Claiming Quinn had caused multiple disturbances at previous events, a pair of GOP officials had security eject him from the Sheraton hotel in Nashua, N.H., he said. During a Fourth of July parade the following week, Quinn again approached DeSantis, the Daily Beast reported. He said he wanted to apologize about their exchange making national news, but before he could fully address the issue with DeSantis, he was surrounded and physically restrained by security, according to the Daily Beast. He was “grabbed and physically intimidated” at two later campaign stops, which he described to the Daily Beast as “horrifying.” On his podcast, Quinn said that series of events led him to believe the DeSantis campaign was involved with his ejection on Friday. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/10/16/teenager-new-hampshire-republican-event-ejected/
