I happen to live in NY-14. As Tip O'Neill once observed (and no doubt countless others before him), all politics are local. Joe Crowley pulled in 175K votes in the 2016 Election running essentially unopposed and had he pulled in 10% of that in the primary, he would have won. He lost because people who were active in the District were tired of the fact that he represented the District and continues to Chair the County Democratic Party while living in Northern Virginia. His three children attend school in Virginia. His oldest child entered the US Naval Academy the day after the primary having never spent one day in school in New York. I doubt if the kid could find his way on the subway. He was a feudal Lord. Many of us remember how he was gifted the seat in the first place and were lying in the weeds.
I like AOC. She ran a great insurgent campaign and pounded the pavement while Joe was AWOL. Her politics are for the most part in line with the thinking in the District. The Queens part of the District traces back from Crowley to Tom Manton to Geraldine Ferraro, to give some context. I think AOC will represent us well in Congress, but she is as much the face of the Democratic Party as Ron Dellums (who passed away today) was when he was a member of the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC) while representing Oakland for 13 terms in the US Congress (1971-96).

Maybe I am confusing the originator of this thread with another poster whose nom de plume also begins with an E, but there seems to be a type of person he/she finds contemptible. Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez...
I get it - they are all Democrats.

You are not paying attention if you have missed my antipathy toward, news personalities, Joe Biden, any Kennedy, Mr. Obama, musicians who opine on politics, etc

And people want to forget or choose to ignore the fact that Ron Dellums was a Marine veteran (unlike Bone Spurs Trump who received 5 deferments I believe). Semper Fi!

Hillary Clinton says 49 year old Bill’s affair with Monica was not an abuse of peer because she was an adult.
Leader of the Free world defiles 22 year old intern in the White House and Lady Rodham can’t find the abuse of power. In other news she also can’t find her ass with both hands, a flashlight and a map.

Can't wait for a rehash of Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers. . . and of course Tony Rezko(sp) -- a huge financial scandal for Obama right? I guess some can only live in the past since the future looks bleak as long as the malignant narcissist who is the leader of the Republican Party is still in office.

May seem counterintuitive, but Slate had a great podcast series about this whole episode, speaking with most of the major players. Host was totally upfront about the fact that his parents were big D’s, but he was quite fair to all sides of this - most especially at the end, when the Broddrick saga came out. Worth 4 hrs or so of your time.

Only in so much as it was her interview today on CBS. Carry on... You know who else repeatedly defended Bill Clinton up until about three years ago? Donald Trump.

Only in so much as it was her interview today on CBS. Carry on... You know who else repeatedly defended Bill Clinton up until about three years ago? Donald Trump. Trump also suggested Clinton was a “victim” to an unattractive group of female accusers. He told The New York Times in September 1999 that Americans might have been more forgiving toward the president about his actions with Lewinsky if he had cheated on his wife “with a really beautiful woman of sophistication.” Yeah, says the guy who has 5 children from 3 different spouses, all of whom he has cheated on. . . www.newsweek.com/history-donald-trump-bill-clinton-friendship-464360

Show me your friends.
Let’s just all agree that they are both scumbags of the first order.
And Hillary is an enabler.
