Every day in courtrooms around this country, the children of American citizens are separated from their parents by operation of law. In Kamalaland, the children of non -citizens deserve more protection. No thanks. This is utterly preposterous - the kids don't get locked up when the parents behave badly. We are caging young kids now, nobody even knows what the standard of care is and they sure as hell aren't letting people confirm it is being met, there is no right to counsel and these are, in many cases, innocent asylum seekers, not illegal immigrants. Some have spent years and all their resources just to get to the immigration desk and we are treating them like criminals. Shame on us all for allowing this to continue. Shame on POTUS and pals for doing it. And, as the History of Immigration post upstream points out, the notion that "our" forebears came here legally so we are all good and pure is just effing absurd. Those who ignore history are doomed to say stupid things like "didn't you burn down the WH" and "D-Day is evidence of our strong relationship with Germany..."

Parents have been given a flyer with the wrong number to call the government to find out where their kids are. Last week, the number was corrected on a scrawled, hand-written note

Every day in courtrooms around this country, the children of American citizens are separated from their parents by operation of law. In Kamalaland, the children of non -citizens deserve more protection. No thanks. Looks like Paul Ryan is taking a trip to Kamalaland, good on him, hope he brings others along too.. www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost/ryan-doesnt-assure-passage-of-house-immigration-bill-nothings-easy/2018/06/14/ffc90516-6fda-11e8-bd50-b80389a4e569_story.html?utm_term=.a789777bf376House Speaker Paul D. Ryan said Thursday he opposes the new Trump administration “zero-tolerance” policy of forcibly separating immigrant children from their parents at the border.
Ryan said Congress should address the issue with legislation, but he offered no guarantees that the House will pass a bill that ends a policy that has drawn widespread criticism from lawmakers, human rights groups and U.S. Catholic bishops.
“We don’t want kids to be separated from their parents,” Ryan (R-Wis.) told reporters.

Here's a rare case of Trump being directly confronted by reporters about one of his lies. His response: repeating the lie more slowly.

Here's a rare case of Trump being directly confronted by reporters about one of his lies. His response: repeating the lie more slowly. 1. Gaslighting is a form of manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, hoping to make them question their own memory, perception, and sanity. Using persistent denial, misdirection, contradiction, and lying, it attempts to destabilize the target and delegitimize the target's belief 2. A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." Hitler believed the technique was used by Jews to blame Germany's loss in World War I on German general Erich Ludendorff, who was a prominent nationalist and antisemitic political leader in the Weimar Republic.

Even the Southern Baptist Convention (typically reliable Trump enablers/supporters/sycophants) is opposed to separating children from their families.
WHEREAS, Every man, woman, and child from every language, race, and nation is a special creation of God, made in His own image (Genesis 1:26–27); and
WHEREAS, Longings to protect one’s family from warfare, violence, disease, extreme poverty, and other destitute conditions are universal, driving millions of people to leave their homelands to seek a better life for themselves, their children, and their grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, God commands His people to treat immigrants with the same respect and dignity as those native born (Leviticus 19:33–34; Jeremiah 7:5–7; Ezekiel 47:22; Zechariah 7:9–10); and
WHEREAS, Scripture is clear on the believer’s hospitality towards immigrants, stating that meeting the material needs of “strangers” is tantamount to serving the Lord Jesus Himself (Matthew 25:35–40; Hebrews 13:2); and
WHEREAS, Southern Baptists affirm the value of the family, stating in The Baptist Faith and Message that “God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society” (Article XVIII), and Scripture makes clear that parents are uniquely responsible to raise their children “in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). . . .
RESOLVED, That the messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Dallas, Texas, June 12–13, 2018, affirm the value and dignity of immigrants, regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, culture, national origin, or legal status; and be it further
RESOLVED, That we desire to see immigration reform include an emphasis on securing our borders and providing a pathway to legal status with appropriate restitutionary measures, maintaining the priority of family unity, resulting in an efficient immigration system that honors the value and dignity of those seeking a better life for themselves and their families; and be it further
RESOLVED, That we declare that any form of nativism, mistreatment, or exploitation is inconsistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ; and be it further
RESOLVED, That we encourage all elected officials, especially those who are members of Southern Baptist churches, to do everything in their power to advocate for a just and equitable immigration system, those in the professional community to seek ways to administer just and compassionate care for the immigrants in their community, and our Southern Baptist entities to provide resources that will equip and empower churches and church members to reach and serve immigrant communities. . . .

Additionally in that period of time 366 children were separated from their parents. Also, and this is still a bit unclear, the documents appear to show that child separation is happening *before* the decision to prosecute.
That means there are parents being ripped away from their kids who ***aren't even being prosecuted.****
So the President who is lying about his own policy is now using these kids and their suffering as a bargaining chip....

Fake scoreboards aside at least she's standing up for what she believes in and not just parroting some ridiculous b.s. talking point like Nielson, or just flat out lying about it like the President...
Seems incomprehensible that you would treat a child in this manner, especially considering most have probably had a pretty tough life already as it is. Even the Trump Administration deep down knows it's disgraceful....

It’s best to avoid making the obvious comparison but this is alarming. I’m not proud to be an American. And I don’t see much reason to expect things to improve much anytime soon.

This is also the first step towards creating a new group of people that are hostile towards the US and motivated to carry out terror attacks. So that’s great.

What does “pro-life, pro-family” really mean? The idea behind that phrase has long been an important organizing principle for pro-life groups like Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council. For many who work for these organizations — or who vote for candidates endorsed by them — being “pro-life, pro-family” is not a euphemism for opposing abortion and same-sex marriage. It acknowledges that protecting children, including ones not yet born, often requires protecting and supporting their mothers and families too. We are in the midst of a serious crisis for vulnerable children and families, though, and these “pro-life, pro-family” organizations have been largely silent. The crisis is the Trump administration’s practice of separating children from undocumented parents, even when the families are asking for asylum. In one particularly horrific case, a mother said that her baby was taken from her while she was breast-feeding. The number of children being taken is so large that the administration, using the fear these children must feel as a means of deterring undocumented immigration, is apparently building “tent cities” around military bases to house them. Given their support of the administration, and an unwillingness to speak critically about immigration policy, “pro-life, pro-family” organizations now risk being tied to these and other horrific practices. On Wednesday, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, denounced the Trump administration’s immigration policy. “We urge courts and policymakers to respect and enhance, not erode, the potential of our asylum system to preserve and protect the right to life,” he said. mobile.nytimes.com/2018/06/16/opinion/sunday/pro-life-immigrant-children-separation.htmlThis same Catholic officials call for social justice but the Right is not so quick to quote them there... First Principle: People have the right to migrate to sustain their lives and the lives of their families. At the end of World War II, with the fall of the Nazi empire and the subsequent creation of the Soviet "Iron Curtain," Europe faced an unprecedented migration of millions of people seeking safety, food, and freedom. At that time, Pope Pius XII wrote Exsul Familia (The Emigre Family), placing the Church squarely on the side of those seeking a better life by fleeing their homes. When there is a massive movement of people such as during a war, natural disaster, or famine, the lands that receive these displaced people may be threatened. The influx may make it impossible for the native population to live securely, as the land may not have enough resources to support both. Even in more orderly migrations, such as in the United States, citizens and residents of the land may fear that newcomers will take jobs, land, and resources, impoverishing the people already present. Because of the belief that newcomers compete for scarce resources, immigrants and refugees are at times driven away, resented, or despised. Nevertheless, the first principle of Catholic social teaching regarding immigrants is that people have the right to migrate to sustain their lives and the lives of their families. This is based on biblical and ancient Christian teaching that the goods of the earth belong to all people. While the right to private property is defended in Catholic social teaching, individuals do not have the right to use private property without regard for the common good. www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/immigration/catholic-teaching-on-immigration-and-the-movement-of-peoples.cfmThe same Catholic officials call for social justice but the Right is not so quick to quote them there...
