Yay! A Yurtseven thread in the HoyaTalk side of things. Looking forward to Omer's playing as a Hoya.

Welcome, Omer! Fingers crossed for a rule change. If it happens, I'm hammering this thread with dancing gifs.

"During an Under-18 youth age competition in Turkey, Yurtseven recorded a double-double, of 91 points (scoring more points than his entire competition), making 34 out of 49 shots (including five three-pointers), and grabbing 28 rebounds, in a 115-82 win over the youth club of Eylul Basketbol Ihtisas.[5][6"

I really respect this kid. He could have been drafted this year and get the quick check, but I think he realizes the payday will be so much bigger if he can signficantly improve himself as a player. Instead of a $10M career, he could be in line for a $200M career.
Besides why not have fun as a college kid....those are great times.

Not to mention the boost to recruiting that a transition like that by a kid who is already talking about learning from Ewing would give to future recruiting.

He gives great props to Patrick. You also have to love that he admires versatile big men that "read the game." I expect big things from him next year.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that he doesn't test the waters next year and go pro. I know..why do it after sitting out a year..but stranger things have happened.

I'd love to have play for us, but if he tests the waters, does well, gets drafted and praises his tutelage under Big Pat, I think that would help us a lot, as well.

Yes, thing with this guy is that he keeps indicating he does not simply want to make an NBA team, he wants to be an impact player immediately on an NBA team. I like to refer to this as Hit The Ground Running, something we don't see much anymore. While I wasn't overly concerned about the results of his first KL game (I recognized he was a much better player than that), I nonetheless drew from that that he could perhaps use a couple of more years of honing his craft, getting more forceful. We'll see what happens but I do like the fact that Duncan serves as a sort of model to him in terms of how to play.

Is this and the more recent Govan "highlight" video made by the same awful production team?

Turkey is on Trump’s list these days. Albeit, a very long list.

Hopefully he is able to play in the actual tournament next summer. Coming off a gold would be a great way to roll into his season at Gtown.
