I agree. Anything this stupid would really put Uconn in a jam. Williams is already being talked about as a first rounder next year and price was supposed to help out a lot this year. Hoyas up to a three seed if this is true?

Hoyas up to a three seed if this is true? I think Price was suppose to start last year before his unfortunate brain hemorrhage. This is crazy. Why do they have to steal laptops? I always thought UCONN players always received a "hefty allowance" where they could afford 10 laptops.

This so utterly stupid if it is substaniated - why do you need to steal lap tops when you are a D-1 athelete with a clear future ahead in the NBA? But then again when you have a thug coaching you, it just might rub off ...

But then again when you have a thug coaching you, it just might rub off ... Oh no you DIDN'T! I cannot believe this is possible. If this is true, I would hope these two had some grand scheme in mind with a fence and everything, leading to more and more thefts... some kind of diabolical arch-criminal master plan. 'Cause if this was just a one-time deal for some computers to sell for a couple hundred each, this has to be the dumbest thing ever. What ever happened to the good ol' days when some suit handed a guy $100 after the game like Darnell Jefferson in The Program?

I can appreciate that there might not be a lot to do in Storrs over the summer, and that the devil makes work for idle hands, but stealing laptops? How bored do you have to be?
If this turns out to be true, I wouldn't worry for Williams - I'm sure this just only enhances his value in the eyes of the Trailblazers.

High Schoolers can stay in the draft and even be drafted but still retain eligibility, if they don't sign with an agent or a professional contract.

Gotta love the UConn reaction: connecticut.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=1363&tid=54145534&sid=&style=2"I say a slap on the wrist would suffice. Tops they MUST sit out for an exhibition game or two." So what does it take to get thrown off the team at "U Con" -- 50 laptops? 100 laptops? Maybe they were taking them to sell for Jim Calhoun to replace the Nike money he's going to lose out on. ;D

The funniest thing was the heading of their Rivals thread...
"Williams and Price Selling Laptops?"
Well, I guess that is accurate. Never mind the stealing part, they just shouldn't be selling any laptops.

U CON shows their true stripes again - seemed like the posters really rallied behind their soon-to-be-arrested starters. Its also pretty low to say that while breaking the law, a players actions were excusable because he didn't do things that happen in other programs. The bottom line is that these players seem to have stolen 10 laptops with the intent to redistribute them - it might be fun for U CON fans to call the journalist names and generalize about the state of the media but they can't change the facts -
like Marvin Williams said to AJ Price: "Dude, I got a Dell."

Dude, I stole a Dell!
Could you expect anything less than this at Yukon? Honestly? Calhoun's been taking so many liberties with the type of kid he recruits, it was going to come back and bite him, much like it bit JT2. Except he doesn't maintain order like 2 did.
He can motivate but not father them.
I say, it's us and VU next year. I said so since the season ended and I maintain so now.

Oh, come off it people. As for UConn fans, if, hypothetically, there was a report that Alonzo Mourning was being investigated as the head of the Gambino crime family, you really think there wouldn't be posts defending him all over this board? Fans are loyal to their players...no surprise there. Some will of course post stupid things, but mostly what you hear is exactly right - let the police investigate, and see how things play out before stringing Williams and Price up in the center of town.
As for Uconn as thuggish behavior...This is definitely a "he who is without sin" issue. And unless this is your first year of Hoya-fandom, you know we are not the least bit without sin. I've read articles about AJ Price, and he has always sounded like the last kid you'd expect to be caught up in this. Hopefully, the whole thing is a prank gone too far, as opposed to a serious and idiotic attempt at robbery. It's truly classless to revel in something like this.

Revel, revel, revel, revel, revel, revel, revel!!!
;D
But I don't think it's based on any real ill-will towards the alleged transgressors themselves (unless Calhoun is somehow the ringleader).
But we do hate the school, you know? We're allowed to have some fun with it. You think if this sort of thing happened at UMCP (what do I mean, IF? ... I meant "when" ), they wouldn't be laughing about it from Charlottesville to Durham?
You think Miami fans aren't sending "Letters to God" over to Tallahassee?
It's really more about having something on their fans, I think, than anything else.
And if Alonzo Mourning was the head of the Gambinos, every other fan in the Big East would be making fun of us for it. Yes, we'd like to think we're nobler than that, but we all know better. We're fans. We act accordingly.

Hey, no doubt man. We're acting like fans. They're acting like fans. I have no problem reveling in the failures of Jim Calhoun or UConn as an entity. But when the issue boils down to two kids who may have just ruined their lives over a few thousand bucks, a little restraint is called for. That's all I'm saying. Now that I think about it, my reaction to Zo being a made man would be, "that's freakin' awesome!" But that's just me...

Grabs a pile of stones licks his lips and aims right between the Husky's eyes and also starts reveling.

If Zo were in with the Gambinos............. Hmmmm............cue the Wayne's World dream sequence music [dooda lah doot...dooda lah doot...dooda lah doot...dooda lah doot...] Zo: It gives me great pleazure to present to youse dis big check. I have a funny feeling dat dere might be a lightnin' strike over dere at dat McDonough place and youse might need dis 8-figure check to maybe rebuild dat building after it burns down. DeG: Thank you, Mr Mourning. However, we all feel that McDonough is just fine the way it is. Zo: Oh, really. I don't tink I would be too sure about dat. I hear dat dere is a maybe gonna be some-ting going on someday soon. You might want to consider dis big check to be "insurance." Da Family tinks dat you should be "prepared" just in case. DeG: The "Family?" Zo: I tink that youse should show some loyalty to da Family. I tink dat "Gambino Convocation Center" has a very nice ring to it. Dontcha tink? [dooda lah doot...dooda lah doot...dooda lah doot...dooda lah doot...] dream out
