Our late game strategy was not rock solid. But it was his first year in charge. There are many things ha will have to learn.

We lost close games because we did not have a PG or player able to create a play on its own.

We lost close games because we did not have a PG or player able to create a play on its own. So how did we get such big leads before choking them away? I suppose it was Ewing's coaching that got us the leads, but the players' faults that we peed down our legs down the stretch?

I didn't perform a full inventory, but in my mind we lost several games because teams turned up the heat (press) in the last several minutes of the game and we didn't have enough (any?) players with the ball skills necessary to avoid repetitive turnovers. I don't know how Ewing is supposed to coach that. We also lost the same kind of games the year before with an experienced head coach with similar roster construction (few real ballhandlers). I do think Ewing has much to learn and WILL get better at lots of things connected to game management because he's never been a head coach before, but blaming some of those losses on strategy is very unfair in my view. The solution is to recruit players who can handle that pressure and Ewing is trying to do that. That strikes me as a smart strategy.

If you watched the games, most teams double the paint , either Govan or Derrickson, during the first half. And it did work, because Govan or Derrickson learned how to pass the ball to the open man. The teams adjusted to man to man defense knowing that Georgetown did not have any players able to create by themselves. Therefore, Georgetown's offense got stagnant in the second half.

Significant improvement is needed and that includes on the court and the sideline. Ewing knows that and has acknowledged the need to get better--which he will with more experience and better players.

Silly to blame it all on the players - or on the staff.

Moyer visiting Xavier this weekend got me thinking, does anyone ever think Georgetown will not only recruit but ever sign a transfer from Syracuse and vice versa? If Moyer does commit to Xavier it's obviously not the same since they were never in the BIG EAST at the same time. Seton Hall has done it with Thompson. Will Georgetown ever do it and how will that player be treated??? As Catholics we preach forgiveness. If a syracuse Player were to have a moment of conversion like Paul we should welcome them. That being said I can't imagine anyone with the poor sense to pick cuse would have the wherewithal to make and informed decision like picking Georgetown. Louis Orr is one of our coaches. If memory serves, he attended Syracuse as part of the Louie and Booie show. So yeah, I would say that if we could pick up a good player from Syracuse, that's a double win. No taint involved.

With a down year for most other contenders next year, Nova looks like a runaway for the title... but if Spellman & Donte end up staying in the draft, the pack could catch up a lot quicker.

I was surprised that Spellman had not announced this earlier. He played really well in the tournament and had to improve his stock with scouts. He is much more athletic than I had first thought he was and players with his size, athleticism and shooting range are what NBA teams are looking for these days. He very well may get a promise to get drafted in the first round and may stay in the draft. If he leaves the Big East will be wide open next year.

I was surprised this didn't happen a little earlier. A tough draft for both to come out, so likely see them on the same court with the Hoyas next year. Both were good to watch (when not playing them). The announcers this year repeating Donte was the Michael Jordan of Delaware really bugged me. So many things really off with that, partly the best player of a tiny state isn't something to brag about. But, over the season particularly the Hoya's second game, I appreciated how good a player he actually is. If he comes back and continues to grow it will be tough for the Hoyas, but he could be in lottery range with next year's lighter (as far as it seems now) class.

Had been rumored as a possible candidate for Ewing's staff last year.

Had been rumored as a possible candidate for Ewing's staff last year. Oh boy. And yet another team coming for the DMV. Really nothing new, but with these guys at Seton Hall, UConn, etc that pitch is a lot easier than at La Tech and Nebraska.

DiVincenzo ranked the 33rd prospect pre-combine. A depleted Nova can't be good for the BE even if GTown exceeds expectations....
