Yes, and the stories were wild. As I recall, If he showed up, he team won. When he didn’t...... Was for entirely different reasons, but yeah, Deke’s team would win 42 to 11 with him scoring 15 dunks and 15 blocks. Agree Sodom is raw, but a year of tutelage and training might make him less project and more Deke. One way or another, he would likely have left campus for some place that will play him if he had no shot at getting back into Pat’s good graces. Since he seems to still be on campus, there is at least a chance that he becomes a Hoya again. Don't forget, Hibbert was a project too.

Kids make mistakes. I’m all for second chances. In this case it wasn’t too egregious in my view. Im hoping he can earn a second chance. That means a big attitude adjustment, and forgiveness.

If Sodom was kicked off for that infraction solely vs the proverbial straw the broke the camel’s back, it means PE is running a tight ship.

I am not arguing for him to be back with the team if the circumstances don't warrant such. Someone suggested that it might be possible. If so, let it be considered by Patrick. I appreciate establishing a team culture and rules and regulations. If not Sodom should find another school. I believe this incident happened before the second semester began, so Sodom could have conceivably transferred to another school. He's probably not untouchable...some team would take him, gladly. Anyone disagree?

So how does a guy who, I assume, lost his scholarship "stay around" at $50,000+ tuition?

So how does a guy who, I assume, lost his scholarship "stay around" at $50,000+ tuition? A scholarship is based on one year, so someone could conceivably stay and continues their studies in the spring, but takes the risk that if he doss not return to the team, he must sit out another two semesters at another school to play again. Also, as Sodom may not be not a U.S. citizen, his financial aid opportunities are extremely limited if or when an athletic grant expires.

Point taken. My proofreading skills aren't what they used to be. I will say that I have a ton of content scheduled to work on in the off-season. Much of the last year was spend finishing the John Carroll Awards site and this off-season is about the basketball history site, including the drive to publish a bio for every former player. When the last name is Ewing or Mourning, that's not a problem, but when's it's Hertel or Deriveaux or O'Lone, it gets a lot more more time consuming. The older season by season stats that didn't get loaded into the new format will get repurposed as well, and the features page will get some longer form articles as well. As to the roster, I have always thought Georgetown could do better with walk-ons and get one or two more walk-ons on the roster. You look at other schools where the walk-on program is more defined and they get solid contributors off the bench, and it provides goodwill among the students. Maybe a 6-5 football lineman that played basketball in high school or a 6-3 lacrosse midfielder. I'm been a big fan of the approach taken at UNC for years now--a full fledged junior varsity that gives two players a year a truly once in a lifetime opportunity. www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/unc/article10869986.htmlDFW, FYI I was reading a biography of Vincent, the Chin, Gigante the famous "Oddfather". Turns out his youngest brother Louis was a standout on the 1952/4 and 1953/4 Hoya basketball teams. Louis later went on to St.Joseph Seminary in Yonkers and became a parish priest in the South Bronx. Father Lou worked hard to serve his poor congregants but also was a staunch defender of his brother who he always insisted was not mob connected. I digress (or should I say, continue the digression): My father, also from NYC, was manager for the 52-53 team and was / still is good friends with Lou. I first met Lou when I was 8 at an Italian restaurant in NY. Great guy who was a hell of a point guard (or so I'm told). www.nytimes.com/1981/07/15/nyregion/controversial-father-gigante-wins-applause.htmlwww.nydailynews.com/new-york/bronx/bronx-organization-leader-hangs-article-1.274993thebronxchronicle.com/2017/07/11/father-louis-gigante-honored/

BIG HYPOTHETICAL -- I don't remember how many games Chris played, if any... Is it possible that this punitive action could be comparable to a Red-Shirt year or actually? Dont mean to stretch your imaginations. I didn't give any of this thought before it was suggested by "Seaweed" that it may be possible for Sodom could come back to the team. Do any insiders know anything? Does this thinking carry any water or is it ludicrous? Just curious?

If Sodom was kicked off for that infraction solely vs the proverbial straw the broke the camel’s back, it means PE is running a tight ship. I think its been clear that Coach Ewing is running a tight ship from Day 1 when Tre Campbell was separated from the team. He's not going to suffer no fools or malcontents. Setting that tone is important because when you make special exceptions or let things slide other players see that and it lowers morale.

To see a 7-2 athletic freshman walk into the gym on the opposing team.

My guess is he is not redshirt eligible without a legit medical rationale, and “young and dumb” isn’t that. Then again, you never know with the NCAA

I wonder if malinowski will be a starter. I hope that pickett can improve his dribbling ability to help mac. MD is a good at it as well so it should open up for Greg. The shooting of greg would give blair a run for his money and we will badly need it come BE time .. What do you think that starting line-up looks like? mac greg marcko MD JG

What do you think that starting line-up looks like? mac greg marcko MD JG I don’t know enough about Greg especially on the defensive side. I understand his 3 point % was favorable. I guess PE will have to compare this to the base case of continuing to use Caleb or the the scenario where he might get improved rebounding and length with Leblanc.
