Even before the foot injury, Mac wasn’t the same guy he was prior to the eye gauging in the final OOC game. Prior to that it’s easy to forget how awesome he was against Ok State, Syracuse, etc. He was playing at an all BE level for that short burst. Once he came back from eye injury he really never hit that level again. his shooting dropped off a cliff after the poke. No idea how much of that was a vision or comfort issue vs. regression to the mean after his super hot start, but it was certainly frustrating to watch. Hopefully another off-season of work will solidify the shooting potential he flashed in the OOC schedule.

Mac definitely gets banged up. Targeted at times and fouled hard. We don’t have an enforcer on our team to get his back. Kobe Clark seems to be that. And Tim doesn't seem to be afraid to get in some trouble, he just hasn't been on the floor with Mac from what I remember.

Need to get Mac through conference play healthy if this team wants to dance next year. Losing Mac around this time of year has killed us this year and last year. Keep his minutes in the 28-32 minute range if needed to make sure we have him for the stretch run.

Yes, not only has his absence been a big loss to the team this year, but his absence during BE play will certainly set back his “seasoning”. Despite his awful performance in his last BE game ( Butler) he was on a definite upward trajectory: better rebounding, D, and fewer ( though still too many) hero shots. Stating the obvious, but losing 6-8 BE games for a kid trying to outgrow his high school tendencies is a setback.

Thanks for sharing. Good article on Mac. I hope he continues to hit the gym hard and expand his game. Mostly he needs to get and stay healthy.

I like the way the interview reads. Mac sounds like a kid who is confident, but knows he needs to keep working and improving to reach his goals.

I know most here don't think he will sniff the NBA, but I'm one who does think he will definitely be there. The NBA style and spread offense is a much better system for his game (especially compared to the offense we run). The other thing appealing in the NBA is teams won't be designing defense around him like they are now and that will really free him up in lots of areas.

Mac is the type of college player that increases draft stock by leading his team far in the tournament. If he scores 22 pts a game on 8 for 22 shooting and we struggle, he will struggle to get NBA looks. Needs to continue to work on ball handling, outside shot, and efficiency.

I just wonder how much non Georgetown basketball some of you watch. I'm not saying he definitely won't get there but right now,he hasn't shown a single consistent trait that is NBA caliber. This year is screwed up due to injury but he was definitely trending towards a repeat of last year's statistics with just higher minutes/usage. We just played Creighton and I'd suggest that all 3 of their guards are better prospects at the moment.

I think there is little doubt he will make it(may not be a superstar).

How would you compare him (your projection of him in a couple of years) to Myles Powell as a NBA prospect? Myles just being a well-known player with similar height and NBA role (undersized SG)?

He's not close to an NBA player. Lots of kids can score. Role players in the NBA have to defend, rebound, pass and catch and shoot. He doesn't do that.

It’s HoyaTalk tradition for some fans to think all of our players are going to be NBA players. I will never forgot the guy (can’t remember who) that proclaimed Tre Campbell would be a draft or lotto pick after two years.
On McClung he’s not even close to NBA consideration at the moment. He’d have to improve a lot. That doesn’t mean he’s not or can’t be a good player for us in college though.
