I think he would prefer Gtown over Gleague. Mac will get a paycheck and expand his brand in the G-League.

The best thing for the McClung “brand” other than being drafted would be to have a healthy, productive all BE year leading the Hoyas to the tourney. This during a “rebuilding” year at the Hilltop.

Exactly, GLeague will be there next year. Mac's goal is to make it to the NBA, not get a paycheck or expand his brand.

I, for one, see this as a very positive move on Mac's part and also helpful to the team. Sometimes, it is good to hear what your deficiencies and strengths are from people other than those close to you. Listen, I am a parent. Let's just hope that after his evaluation/s, Mac comes back on a mission and more motivated than ever. I have no doubt that a healthy Mac can lead us back to the NCAA tournament, perhaps even the final four.

Are teams required to report when/who they have workout for them? I assume that they could send someone to Gate City and work him out as long as they are doing social distancing etc? I'm not up on NBA rules regarding the process at all so would be interested in the process if anyone knows.

Best you can hope for is to catch the attention of an NBA GM who has a sudden and/or short term need, and hope you will get some minutes and perform well enough to give them a reason to keep you up.

I'm not up on NBA rules regarding the process at all so would be interested in the process if anyone knows. No in-person workouts. It limits ability for guys like McClung to catch someone's eye. NBA teams have been told they cannot hold in-person workouts with prospects or request workout videos shot outside of a team environment after March 11, according to ESPN, meaning players such as Smith have little means of impressing the organizations that want to check in on them. The new rules are the result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/nba-draft-2020-prospect-stock-workout-rules/rpsmb65bztid1h8tfq6boxn9qThe NBA has told teams that they may not conduct or attend any workouts with draft-eligible players during the league’s coronavirus hiatus, a major change from typical procedures. Teams also are being prohibited “from watching, requesting, or sharing any video (live or recorded) of a draft-eligible player or prospective early entry player taking part in a workout” during the league’s shutdown. The NBA told teams of the rule changes Monday in a memo, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nba/nba-changing-pre-draft-process-for-workouts-interviews/2020/04/06/81e42da4-786d-11ea-a311-adb1344719a9_story.html

As for the NBA Combine and G League Elite Camp, it looks like they are still on as scheduled right now? Are they both invite only? Curious if Mac gets invited to either. I would expect there's enough curiosity to at least get him an invite to the G League Elite Camp?

Funny that everyone still thinks Mac is actually Riff Raff’s cousin lol. Apparently Riff Raff agrees. From TMZ Sports: "Mac still has the option to return to school, but that's something his hip-hop star cuz tells TMZ Sports should NOT happen ... if NBA teams have a brain. We asked the Neon Icon how good McClung could be. His answer? "All-Star level. All-star, ya know? All-Star. Starting point guard, easily." Mac addresses their relationship in this video at the 8:08 mark.

G-league is not a place where brands are enhanced. Better off being showcased in the Big East.

I don’t understand what a brand is. Like Big Baller? I don’t recall a recent player saying they wanted to work on their brand. Maybe their free throw shooting, or in Macs case his three point shooting. Or maybe they want to work on making their team better. But I don’t see what a brand has to do with anything. Question: who is a better NBA prospect, Marcus Derrickson, who has at least one excellent NBA skill, or Mac. I realize they play different positions.

I keep saying Mac is not coming back to GTown. Mac’s brand can really expand in the NBA or G-League. And I keep saying NOBODY builds or expands a brand in G League. There are reasons for a college underclassman to leave school even if G League or overseas is the only pro option - but there is zero way G League moves the needle for anyone's reputation or brand.

When was the last time anyone say a G League highlight on TV I'll add that a lot of G-League games are played on week days during the day, so nobody is watching. I don't imagine many people are watching the Go-Go play the Red Claws at noon on a Tuesday.
