In a total turnaround in marathon running the US women took six of the top seven places (the lone non-US citizen in the top seven was a Canadian). The US men took four of the top six places. And a Japanese man won the race.

Hoyas have placed 1st, 2nd, and 5th over the years in the Boston Marathon. There might be a couple of other top placings in Boston that I cannot think of right now.
1. Jack Fultz with a 2:19.xx 2. Eamon O'Reilly 2:11:12 5. Andrew Bumbalough 2:19:52
Ironic that Jack and Andrew ran a similar time in horrible weather conditions for the marathon. Jack ran 2:19 in an extremely hot day; Andrew ran 2:19 in a rainy and cold and windy day.

Rachel ran a great two mile race at the Drake relays. Unfortunately, Jenny Simpson set the US two mile record, so she got all the press.

Also at the Portland Track Festival was Hoya distance supreme runner Kate Landau (her sister ran for Georgetown too)
19 Kate Landau Unattached 34:46.01
Although she was 19th, she set the American 40-44 age group record for the 10000m and was just two seconds off the absolute American masters (>40 years old) record. She has also done three marathons in the past five months and has the B standard for the Olympic marathon trials.

Great Britain is putting the athletics version of the World Cup in London today and tomorrow. The countries of South Africa, Poland, US, Germany, Jamaica, France, China, and Great Britain are competing with one entry per country per event (except of course for the relays).
Rachel Schneider is the US representative in the 1500m.

Not an alumna, but she did run for Georgetown for one year, Sarah Schmidt ran in the German championships. She won her heat in 2:05.07 by two seconds. Her season's best is 2:02.04 and her PB is 2:01.44. Sigh! She should have stayed.
