Emily: I want to be honest, I was not expecting that. I have definitely been fatigued at altitude but I’ve been putting in lots of good work and yesterday was the first time in my life I didn’t finish a race.
My hips and body felt better than I did racing the 10k in February but my legs just felt so heavy. This was a last minute change but I was excited to race. I ran tactically really well until I fell off at about 3400m. I hit a wall and just gave up. I thought I was gonna pass out and just stepped off the track. I’m not exactly sure what happened.
We haven’t touched this pace but I’ve done so many solid longer workouts (7-8 miles) and my speed is the best it’s been in the last 4 years. There is no excuse for what happened but I’m just hoping it’s a fluke. I know I have to be fit so I’m trying to remember more isn’t always better and am going to pivot my training to make sure I have my legs with me for the big show in June ❤️
Thankful for all the wonderful friends I have in my life and the kind words of support from so many! Great work to two Hoyas @rachschneid18 @josettenorris 💙 as well as the rest of the field!!

Graduating Georgetown Track & Field student-athlete Denzell Brown will continue his education and pursue a Ph.D. at Howard University. His research will focus on aiding Black mothers who have lost children to gun violence in Washington, DC.

From letsrun.con Josette Norris explains her breakout season Norris came into 2021 with a 5,000 pb of 15:29 and had some work to do just to make the US Olympic Trials (15:20 standard), let alone the Olympic team. Yet after her 14:51 at the Track Meet two weeks ago — the fastest time by an American this year — Norris is now a serious contender to make it to Tokyo.
From afar, it has seemed as if Norris’ breakout — she won the 1500 tonight to go with her 1500 win at the Drake Relays in April — has come suddenly. In reality, it has been building slowly over the last three years. Injured for most of her first four years at NC State / Georgetown, she finally stayed healthy as a fifth year in 2018-19 and took 4th at NCAAs and followed that up with a 15:29 pb a month later. That was enough to land her a contract with the Reebok Boston Track Club, and under coach Chris Fox, Norris has able to keep healthy and bump her weekly mileage from the 40s in college to the 60s now. She barely raced last year, and though she was improving in practice, she never felt things quite clicked in 2020. They have in 2021.

Thanks for the reminder, Nevada! I was going insane scouring the Portland results looking for Josette; I forgot about the MA meet.

Great time by Sabrina.
And Amos, of course, will try to make the German Olympic team.

From Emily's twitter: Nothing glamorous about last night’s race but a huge step forward and always thankful to get the W #StumptownTwilight
Just under 3 weeks ago at @soundrunning I was feeling fried from altitude and really worried. I’m not gonna lie that DNF stayed with me and last night was really really nice to get a new mark on the board to start the outdoor season 🙃
We still got a couple more weeks to work before the trials 💪🏽😈

I don't know when Joe ran this 1:46. It must have been in the qualifying period. As of now he is not qualified, but he is on the bubble because the runner just before him on the list of OT participants is just 0.1 s ahead of Joe.
Joseph White 1:46.31 not qualified not accepted
