Not confident, but the Hall did get spanked by Marquette, so there is hope. We are due for a good game with limited turnovers and above average shooting, right? right??

It's plain scary how much we turn the ball over. We need Johnson or Pickett to hit a fewer from outside to keep the defense honest.

Hopefully Jessie and Doc are working on their ball fakes this week, try to get Delgado to bite and draw some fouls.

Not sure if they can win this game or not, but this is a better match up for the Hoyas than the Creighton game was for them. Seton Hall does not play at the same hectic pace that Creighton does so hopefully that will help the Hoyas not turn it over so much. If the Hoyas can have a good night shooting the three, and not let Seton Hall pack the paint, they have a good chance to keep this close

This does not strike me as a great matchup. Carrington is good from beyond the arc, and we know where that's led with our lack of perimeter defense.

But hey you never know!

I would settle for fifteen or so generally non-awful turnovers, slightly smarter play, and the same fight we saw last night.

I agree, a win would be a major upset and would likely change the narrative for this Hoya's team for the balance of the year, so I am not expecting a win, but I do think they should be competitive against this team and the way Seton Hall plays

Just play well. That is what I am looking for in this game. Winning on SHU's court will be very difficult, they have scorers in Desi, Carrington and Delgado and will be bigger and more experienced at all positions. I like the idea of trying to get Delgado off his game via physical, chippy play. I saw its effect live against Rutgers, he was completely taken off his game but that was at RU. Otherwise, hoping to be hot from outside and SHU to be cool.

Not sure we have guys who can be physical and chippy with Delgado, but not a bad idea if we can do it.

SH is a nightmare matchup for us. They are a well balanced team with good guard play and tough bigs.

My hope here is for a competitive game. We have played two of the top five teams in the league (Butler, Creighton), both at home, and we lost both games. Seton Hall is better than Butler and probably about on par with Creighton, though they are a much different team. I think Seton Hall is a better matchup for us because their strength is inside. Sure, they have a guard who can score on us, but their bread and butter is a mean inside game. They also don't have five players who can space the perimeter at one time like Creighton did. We should at least be able to guard some of these guys.
My brain says this game won't be close (I picked SHU by 18 in the prediction thread), but my heart hopes the Hoyas put forth a good effort and keep this one close, maybe a 5-10 point game. I think SHU's return trip to DC might be our best opportunity to score an upset against one of the top 5 teams in the league this season. For that to be possible, I would at least like to see that we can keep it pretty competitive in Newark. If Govan and Derrickson play the game of their lives and we have fewer than 15 turnovers, I could see us keeping it competitive.

Given Seton Halls strong inside game it may be necessary for Walker to play a bigger role.

SH getting run by Marquette is not a good thing for the Hoyas. I have a bad feeling this is going to be ugly (well, even uglier than usual).

LET'S GO HOYAS, Beat Seton Hall! IT'LL BE A NEW DAY! Take care of the ball (guards have to tell themselves this. I did and it really helps when you get the ball in your hands.) I'm very confident (as a player and coach I'd have to be). What would be the point of playing a game of basketball if you weren't "confident?" Since Pickett hasn't found his rhythm yet on a consistent basis he needs to work on driving more to the basket to shoot the floater or ball fake to move closer to the basket jump stop and pop! This is all due to skill, I'm sure he either is working or needs to continue to work on this. I agree Walker would help inside especially with his pump fakes to get the foul line. This would help Jessie and Marcus a great deal. The Hoyas have to take it to Seton Hall. Do not rely on just shooting three pointers to bail us out. This will not work every time. Play the game the ways it's suppose to be played. When the Hoyas attack the basket they don't turn the ball over as much simply because they're doing the right thing. We have to players to play with Delgado as we've had in the past I think. It's all about heart.
I'm trying to put what I've read and answer all of what I've read into one post. I wasn't trying to do anything intentionally but answer other's posts one at a time. This seemed to bother a few here, my bad. I think I get it now. I just have to slow down on my typing. It's respectful and better to "ask" than to "assume."

Be positive and just take Hoyas' games one game a time and life. Never doubt yourself or your team. I'd never doubt myself or my team not matter what the case is. I want to say to myself,"I'm gonna try my best to beat this team." Growing up no matter how good or bad my teams were I locked it my head if I got beat I'm coming back at you to try to rip your head off. I'd always let the results take of themselves, but I'd never doubt myself. IMO.

Well it probably crushed their confidence😉 Creighton was coming off a win, DePaul was winless, St. Johns was super desperate and at home...maybe how teams play determine these things more than momentum and any "special" motivation. Obviously tough, experienced team here but the Hoyas need to play just a bit over their heads to compete. I don't think this is Creighton though. We tend to play close with Seton Hall. Aside from the miracle comeback Creighton has tended to be feast or famine because of how they play even when we had comparable talent.

SH is a nightmare matchup for us. They are a well balanced team with good guard play and tough bigs. Agree, tough match-up. I would call Creighton the nightmare because we play right into their hands with our style. SHU is balanced, experienced and have played together for a long time. Our frontcourt depth will be a very real concern in this one. I could easily see Delgado getting one of our 2 guys in early foul trouble and than feasting on the whoever replaced him. Hoping a pesky guy like Mosely can get in Delagdo's head by taking a charge or swiping at him, but not likely.

Good time to show we can learn and play with the big boys.
