Big East athlete it would seem. Adding him and McClung would add a lot of physical ability. If the choice is a guy like this or no guards in this class, I say take him, if the staff likes his other attributes and believes he can contribute.

Just from watching the video clips, he has some Kris Dunn in him. Energetic and athletic and plays both ends, I like.

Best to watch a real game with the kid before commenting on his value imo... it's hard to comment on how good a singer is before you hear a song or watch a performance. Sure, but we don't need to watch him play 500 minutes to be able to comment on the value of a SG/wing recruit in regard to our near-future roster composition. We're not rating this kid's generic talent level -- there are plenty of people who do that for a living who don't have him in the top 20 players in the state of Mississippi. We've got a few scholarships open, and, as the entire Hoya world suggests... we need PG(s) and C(s). What I can see from limited clips is that his build and athleticism are impressive, and he's got a nice easy stroke from 3. But we're entering the silly season when stories get written about unsigned and underappreciated kids who are suddenly Paul George. Heck - given the phenomhoopreport writeup about his 2-way prowess, he sounds like LJ with a better jumper. Obviously there's a lot I'm missing. He may eventually be better than what we have now at his spot. But he's the polar opposite backcourt player from Xavier Pinson, who's playing against better competition and more adequately fills a position of need. If Pinson (or a similar PG) were in hand, I'd be more willing to "reach" for a scorer like Wash. Getting this kid means no Tucker (which is fine if he doesn't want to come, or you don't rate him highly) and that you've got to go 2 for 2 late in the year in your PG and C additions. That's a tall order. I can't stand the thought of a 5th consecutive year where our success is compromised because we have to play people out of position or simply don't have at least average talent at each spot on the floor.

Wasnt true last year but currently he plays the PG position for his hs team.... Surely there's a middle ground between 5 second insta clips and watching half a season worth of games. I'm just not a fan of making assumptions, good or bad, based on limited info. I'm not trying to police the conversation though just adding my opinion..

Oh, man, I feel like it has been longer than 5 years. It's obviously worse now, but that was always the issue -- rolling out five quality starters has been a struggle for years. Everyone thirsts after stars .. I just want solid right at every position right now.

Kansas State also...
I found a vid from one of his AAU games over the summer. He was clearly the best player on the floor. Had probably 20+, made some nice plays and was pretty efficient doing it. Smooth jumper and very athletic but was a little careless with the ball and not consistent with his decision making. He did play with the ball in his hands for a lot of the game.
Based on what I saw from him his junior season at Canton he looks like a player who is making major strides in his game quickly. He looked more like a MM in the game I saw but last year he looked more like a D2 to me. I Would be interested in seeing how he looks now. Can't seem to find the video, but when I do I'll drop it in the thread. He played for SR1 Allstars, and think the game was against Team Vision if anybody wants to search for the link...
On a side note grassroots basketball is awful. Shout out to all the coaches trying to make sense out of that garbage.

In the small sample given by the video, kid sort of reminds me in body build and athleticism of Dwayne Bryant. If his handle is as good as Bryant , then I would say take a chance on him and then rotate the pg position between he and McClung.

I don't know why but I really want this kid. I think he will pair well with McClung.....

I just love that Kirby was seemingly first on him. We have a good shot.

I like that the highlights are jump shots from mid-range, rather than threes or dunks.

If he can play both the one to a perfection and of course the two he would be a good fit. We need good decision making at the point.

The Hoyas need a floor general. If we don't get one Coach Ewing will have a tough time winning games and getting to the tournament. Period.

You know point guards, glide. Is Wash a project, or can he step in day one and be a productive floor general in this conference?

The problem may be that age-old question - we are on multiple PG's, so if your third or fourth choice is ready to pop, do you take him and risk losing a higher priority guy, or do you try to hold him off and risk losing him AND the higher priority guys as well?
