The Hoyas need a floor general. If we don't get one Coach Ewing will have a tough time winning games and getting to the tournament. Period. I think we are all in agreement on this. The problem may be that age-old question - we are on multiple PG's, so if your third or fourth choice is ready to pop, do you take him and risk losing a higher priority guy, or do you try to hold him off and risk losing him AND the higher priority guys as well? As long as it’s an upgrade, bird in the hand. We have been left at the altar too many times.

I think the Hoyas should be trying to land two players that can effectively play the point in this class if possible. I would think the top choice is the Quinerly kid, who appears to be a real game changer, but if either Nowell or Pinson were ready to accept an offer, I would take them and still try to land Quinerly. I like the highlights of Wash, but he looks more like an off guard than a PG. I also am not sure that McClung is a true point guard who will help solve the turnover problem. The way turnovers have hurt this team this season I would much rather have too many true floor generals, and worry about finding playing time for them, than going through another year of hoping we can turn a combo guard into a PG. That just has not really worked for Georgetown.

I would love to see us get Wash no matter what happens at the point. He's got a ton of athleticism (yes, you can see that on the youtubes), he can shoot, and has some midrange game. I don't know what else is there, but he has the talent to play at a major.
I don't think we want a "true floor general" because of the turnover problem. By and large, a lot of the turnover problem is Derrickson and Pickett losing the ball. I think what we really want is someone who has some sense of how to run a play with 7 seconds left, and has the athletic ability to be able to create something if nothing's there. That can easily be a combo guard - if this team had a Victor Page it would suddenly solve a ton of problems. We're getting bailed out quite a bit by Derrickson hitting impossible threes late in the game - the real need is someone who can run a reliable play, and maybe get Derrickson an open shot.

I don't think this kid is leaving the south.. www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/high-school/2018/01/26/damerius-washs-recruiting-stock-rises-canton-continues-win/1071065001/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitterWash drew interest from junior colleges early but started garnering attention from major programs like South Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgetown this season. It was just three weeks ago that he received his first Division I offer from The Hoyas.
Sitting at Krystal with teammate Brandon Weatherspoon, Wash got a call from Georgetown assistant coach Robert Kirby, who said, "We need guards, Dee."
Kirby offered both Wash and Weatherspoon that day.
Facing Holmes County Central in a packed gym Friday night, Wash proved again that all this attention is way past due. His court vision combined with his ball control and shot range make him a nightmare to defend.
He leads the team in scoring, averaging 18 points a game and adding six rebounds and three assists to his stat line. In Canton's 83-56 win over the Jaguars, Wash finished with 18 points.
One person not surprised by Wash's offers and interest is that other kid from the backyard blacktop — Fleming.
"How he's playing now, he's going to get more Division I offers," Fleming said. "If Bama comes around, that would be big. I would love that, and if Bama comes around he better come up there with us."
Alabama has shown interest in the point guard. Crimson Tide coach Avery Johnson checks in on the rising star often, Evans said. Right now, that's the offer Wash is hoping to get.

I agree with this entire post. While I may want a general more than TC I agree that having a few guards that can consistently break down defenses is more important than the specifics of a floor general........

Unless Sexton is a one and done going to Alabama does not make good sense. He would have the chance to start immediately for the Hoyas, but would have to sit behind Sexton and Jones for one maybe two years.

Your PG (floor general) can be the player to break down defenses during crunch time. All in one player.

Sexton is a lottery pick in every mock I've seen.. With that being said even if Sexton leaves, Alabama still doesn't have a scholarship to offer at this time.. I think Wash will end up @ Ole Miss..

If that [Alabama] is where his hopes and heart are, why spend the time and resources? We spent enough effort chasing his teammate to no avail. Who wants us? I believe Patrick and Co will find the player with the right fit even if he has to go international. No rock should be left unturned!

Good lord, why not? He's clearly athletic and can shoot. He doubles a lot of the stuff that McClung brings, not sure why that'd be a bad thing to have two really athletic combo guards to run the guard positions.

From what I heard... 1) Grades 2) Staff doesn't think he's BE level if so, pass... plenty of fish in the sea for one “guard” scholarship... we need a proven guard or a stud frosh and we’re in a perfect position to hunt for one... lets go all in next year because we’ll have the base to go far...
