Tried to do too much today. Move the ball, and take the open spot-up threes when they come.

He doesn't stink. People just go overboard with their expectations of him as a player, and then lash out because he failed to meet their expectations. It is a catch-22. He is a solid player. He just isn't Reggie Williams. Unfortunately, this year's team needs him to be given all of the departures and program reset. As mentioned above, he should let the game come to him and not force his hand. But, he kinda has to because there are very few options as of now.

This is unproductive. He had a bad game and we should temper our expectations of him, but there is zero reason to speak this way about our student athletes.

Here is how he shot to end his last 3 seasons :
5-14 against at John’s 1-4 against Harvard 0-6 against St. John’s
So 6- 24 ( 25%)
He’s not that bad (I think) and he will play a good role on this team, and I think he tends to get better as season progresses but...
We can’t have expectations too high as well. He just needs to do the little things first consistently like he did at times last season. I did like he was assertive but also felt he passed up some good shots for some midrange (which he struggles with).

My man is going to come through. Y'all just watch and see. The team is still trying to find itself and guys have to figure out what they can do well on the court.
Jarmoko only needs to find ONLY a few offensive moves and get to work on his jump shot like Mac did when he was here.
Jarmoko needs to borrow from Mac's work ethic and that is hit the gym and spend an hour to two hours a day just working on his jump shot.
Finally Marko just need to relax and let the game come to him.
I would like to see Marko incorporate as one of his offensive moves, slashing to the lanes for layups (finger rolls and backboard layups) Also it would be good if he could work on a back to the basket post down move along with a turn around jump shot move.
He could start from the post backing down a player with the goal in mind to get a layup shot off. If he can't get but so close to the basket, he could try his turnaround jump shot move. If he feels he can't get his shot off, he could pass the ball out of the post.
He's got long arms which allows him to shoot over smaller guys both with the back down layups and with the turnaround jump shot. If he can develop a slashing to the basket game to go along with the backdown post move and post down turnaround jump shot, he should be good. His three point jump shot along with mid range jump shot should be worked on everyday for an hour or two. I believe with his talent and length, he could add these facets to his game and it would make him a very effective offensive player.
Jarmoko, get a little bit closer to the basket when or before you shoot the ball!

Still plenty of time left this year for Marko to show out. I know we all wanted him to be the all-star that his measurables can be but as of now he's more of a glue guy then a star. Games where his confidence is flowing he can blow up but he showed us last night that he can still contribute in other ways even when his shot is not falling. Just needs to keep working on that self confidence, I'm sure if we had fans in the stands we could tell from warmups how Pickett will look that day.

Is that all for you? Why even waste our time with your non-additions to the conversation?

If Walker or Gardner or LeBlanc were still here Jamorko wouldn't be seeing more than 10 minutes a game. Face it guys, he's a senior and his game hasn't gotten measurably better.

At some point we are going to have to move on from yesteryear.

I’m not going to bash a player who appears to be giving his all while sticking with the Hoyas all 4 years. He will have many much better games.

His defense looked really good against UMBC and when the shooting clicks as I'm sure it will, he'll be the best player on the team.

If Jamorko has a good year, I assume you'll come back and sing his praises? Actually, scratch that. He's played one game this year. And, you thought it a good idea to crap on the guy. If he has one great game, I assume you'll be here posting in a similar hyperbolic fashion?

Also, never a good idea to read too much into a first game, especially in a year with limited preseason scrimmages and practices. Walker has 4 points and 3 boards so far against BC and the game is almost over.

Maybe guys didn't make as large of an improvement as they otherwise would have. Maybe they made more of one because they were forced to stay home and boredom caused them to work more. We certainly don't know much after a single game.

He/we need to stop it with the expectations that he is or will be "the man"...just rebound, defend, protect the ball and strike with confidence when the opportunity presents itself...just think of yourself as an important role player...don't "over think" the game...

Also, as was related during the telecast, shoot when it's a good shot regardless of whether you've made your previous 5. Take the shot. See the ball go in. Jamorko's stroke looks better than it did last year. His handle also looks better. His stat line from yesterday isn't going to blow anyone away but that's the problem with stats. They don't always reflect what the eye test tells you. When Jamorko has his first 20 point game this year, I think it'll be followed by a bigger one soon after.
