Jamorko seems to get in trouble when he tries to push things. He's just not there yet. But when he's playing within the flow of the game, he's looking more and more comfortable. Also, whatever kinks he had in his stroke (and there were a couple of different strokes entirely), he seems to have put in the work and it's paying off. He looks confident, especially taking the corner 3.
With regard to his defense and his rebounding, he's MILES better than he was as a freshman and as a 1st semester sophomore. I'm really impressed with what he's been able to do. The sexy stats will come eventually. In the meantime, I remain just as excited about his potential as I was when he got to Georgetown. I respect the heck out of him for the way he's handled his struggles and responded by working his butt off. That's going to serve him well on and off of the court.

I am glad it was a cramp. I saw Pickett being more aggressive and looking for his shot. I am sure this was a directive from Coach (he didn't get yanked nor did he get many scowls). Try it now again at teams we are supposed to take care of. Getting a consistent 13-15 points a night should be the norm.

Love his confidence and development. He just needs to dribble less when small guards are swarming, that’s when his length works against him.

Kind of hard to believe he is the 3rd leading scorer on the team (still on the roster). He doesn’t score in bunches like Yurt, McClung, or even Blair. Just a basket here and there and by the end of the game he has a consistent 8 or 9 points. What an improvement on rebounding this year as well. He has become so reliable.

Love what he brings. Stretches the defense, have to respect his mid-range, is good for at least one big put back a game, and played solid D. Love this kid.

Agree with the praise of the last few posters. However, On the negative side, I'm sorry..but I cringe every time he is looking to pass or dribble, especially in a pressure situation in a game. He is very very sloppy with the ball.

He is very very sloppy with the ball. In fairness, his passing has improved markedly. His handle hasn't as much. But, while still shaky, he has made progress on that front too. I feel like he's a couple of big games away from being a much more dominant player. I think that a bit more confidence is going to be transformational for him. He had a very up and down year last year where his role was very much in question. Especially with the departures, his importance to this squad is cemented. That can go either way for a guy that isn't quite there yet in terms of his belief in his game (granted, this is just me guessing from watching him play and I could be entirely off-base). Watching the way he's handled his low points as a Hoya, I have a lot of hope and belief in him. I think he puts it all together sooner than later.

For the Hoyas to be competitive and perhaps successful enough to make it to the tourney, they will need Yurtseven and McClung to be a consistent Dynamic Duo. This is a no-brainer.
For the team to contend and possibly win the Big East title, Pickett has to be that THIRD guy. The type of player who can take the scoring load off of the two main guys from time to time, a player who averages in double figures. And even if his average is around 11 to 14 points he will need to be able to put up 20 or so points a few times and somewhere between 16 and 18 a handful of times as well. So that rounds out to about seven games in which he must score enough to make up for other guys having subpar performances. Scoring 20 or more has been a rarity for Pickett of course but unlike last season he should get all the minutes in the world unless and therefore more shots attempts unless he finds himself in foul trouble. As I’ve written before he has nowhere to hide this season because Ewing has almost no on else to give his minutes too who can produce like he is capable of. And by the way when he is having games in which he is finding it difficult to drive he may want to stay behind the three-point line and fire away, especially when considering the open looks he’ll get if defenses focus on McClung and Yurtseven.

There are still some moments where you cringe (I believe the undecided, half-floater, half-alley oop to Yurt at the end of the Cuse game is a good example), but I think his decision making and passing has definitely improved. He's a huge weapon for us in breaking the press especially. Last season there were several points/stretches where everyone seemed to think Pickett was transferring for sure - and now he seems to be really enjoying his role and his place on this team. Love to see it.

We really need to stop expecting more from Pickett. He has never displayed the ball handling skill or playing strength to be anything more than what he has been for 2.5 seasons. a decent open outside shooter, a decent defender. a poor, turnover prone ballhandler. there really has been little improvement on his weaknesses. the skill set may just not be there for him to do much more than hit some open 3s and finish around the basket/in transition when he is not too heavily contested, and to play decent defense. He is still a useful role player, but I have seen zero evidence that he'll ever develop into a "third scoring option" that can initiate offense off the dribble.

I think we need to run some plays to get Pickett open looks from three. Especially when it’s clear that Yurt is up against a good defensive big. I’d much rather have Pickett put up a three and have a chance at an offensive rebound that keep running our head into a wall by trying to force feed Yurt. Obviously balance is key, but I think it’s time we spend some effort trying to get Pickett open looks.

I don't question that, but, based on what I saw tonight, it wouldn't hurt to spend time getting anybody some open looks.

The ESPN box score from tonight shows Pickett as 0-1 from tonight. I could have sworn that Pickett hit a three in the second half. Am I crazy?
