Something like Martin and Baldwin... 27 and 31 pts... The difference between guards and bigs. Marcus and Jessie need to be fed the ball while Baldwin and Martin can create off the bounce. Jessie and Marcus would have gotten those type of numbers if they would have been fed more in the 2nd half when Butler was making their run.... TRUTH!!!

Still disappointed in the fall off from Kaleb. They cannot afford to play him this much if he cannot contribute on offense. Even without the shooting you can win if you can avoid TOs. 21 turnovers, 13 by Mulmore, Pickett and Blair is just too sloppy to overcome. smh UNACCEPTABLE from a senior. Very!

A lot of blame to go around for tonight's meltdown. I'll start with Pat. Now I'm not talking at all about his recruiting; that's still very much TBD. And if you want to say he's still getting his feet wet re: coaching in the college game, I'll give you that for sure. But the minutes distribution from the 2nd half on the last 2 games has been extremely puzzling. Guys who are repeatedly making mistakes down the stretch are allowed to stay in the game while others who had productive first halves see little to no time at all. Butler went zone the 2nd half and it really slowed us down... why didn't we consider doing the same? They couldn't shoot for jack from deep all night. Very frustrating to see Baldwin just blow by whoever was guarding him 1v1 repeatedly. I expect better in terms of in-game adjustments from what should be a seasoned coach. Is there any guard/forward on the team right now that everyone feels comfortable with dribbling the ball for us? I don't see one. Forget the highlight reel dunks and shooting, if McClung can give us even that next year he will have a major role on the team. Butler, who almost never presses, knew that they could hurt us with pressure and they did. We should expect to see that in every game from here on out until we can demonstrate for a prolonged period of time that we can handle it. I know Mulmore is a last option of sorts with his limitations, but I never want to see Dickerson on the floor playing significant minutes unless we have extreme foul trouble at the guard positions. He reminds me of the little brother that got invited to play pickup with his older brother and his friends and decides to drive into traffic repeatedly anytime he touches the ball (with predictable outcomes). Very little basketball IQ from a guy who should be experienced at this point in his career. If both of our PGs are going to play nothing close to passable basketball, then just go big and play 2 of Blair/Mosely/Kaleb at the guards and give Walker some run. Speaking of which, where the hell was Mosely the 2nd half and OT? A lot of people are going to (rightfully) harp on the fact that Marcus and Jessie didn't get enough post touches in the 2nd half. That's mostly on the PGs for not being able to create and direct the offense to a point where good entry passes can be made against a zone, but it's also partly on guys like Blair and Pickett jacking up NBA 3's early in the shot clock. It happened against Cuse as well, and we are doing ourselves no favors by unnecessarily creating more possessions when we are leading coming down the stretch. I'd like to see the quick hook a little more often for mistakes like that. We just can't have that and expect to beat competent teams. Finally, I don't buy the youth argument. These guys were old enough to build a 20 point lead, they should be old enough to hold in by not ting the bed in almost every facet of the game for 30 minutes, staff included. Overall expectations for this team haven't changed much, but I still expect to see progress being made in several areas and aside from JG and MD clearly working on their games during the offseason it's coming along a little bit slower than I'd like. It will be interesting to see if Pat can correct some very correctable mistakes by Saturday in what has historically been the hardest place for us to play in the BE. LET THEM KNOW! ALWAYS ON POINT! One thing though, I know Dickerson was weak shooting the rock but when he was out there he helped the Hoyas build that huge lead. He did "somewhat" control the offense until he started attacking. He attacked at the right time but didn't know what shot he wanted to put up. The floater would have been ever so lovely. Butler guards will "floating" all night long. I started singing this song bro. LMAO!!!

The bolded paragraph is the key to how far this team can go this season. The coach has succeeded in getting the effort out of them; the hard part will be getting the results. How many times have I've said this over the years and even written about it? glidehoyas.wordpress.com/2016/02/20/understanding-what-the-hoyas-have-been-missing-a-true-point-guard/ the more you all say this the more I post my blog link from after the 2015-16 season. #donthatetheplaya

Kellen Martin reminds me a lot of Austin Freeman. Same strong moves to the hoop. Same killer mentality. Can you imagine how good this team would be with Austin? But better. He's gonna make some money in he NBA.

No box out whatsoever on buzzer tip in. Ewing being found wanting in end game situations was not only predictable but predicted. Look for more of the same. The team is playing with heart and energy which has not been the case in a long time. Not a fan of Blair, period; clueless on fundamentals. Totally disagree on the Blair clueless on fundamentals. Trust coming from Canada is nothing but fundamentals the feast on teach the fundamentals of basketball.

Glide, if I may, um, interject for a moment.
Tough loss. Hard not to be pleased with the way the team looks, though. Govan and Derrickson have bounced back beautifully, Govan taking it strong under the hoop, and Derrickson being in position on O to utilize his talents, both big changes from last year. I was watching the game as best I could while at work (shhh), and was surprised at the lack of Mosely down the stretch. That was a vintage slapstick mess at the end of OT, waited a couple of seconds too long before getting going, and then... nothing, Ah well, Coach seems intent on getting certain people up and running, hopefully they'll get it ironed out. All in all, we seem very competitive, and I am pumped to get over the hump and take some big games as the season progresses.
Back to you, Glide!

Butler needed this win. Their next four games are against ranked teams (Villanova, Xavier, Seton Hall & Creighton). They could go 0-4 in that stretch. Trust me, they won't they have heart and believe in themselves.

What would you have had Ewing do differently? We have freshmen who are definitely our best players on the floor, no legit point guard, no step-up player, 21 turn overs. How could we possibly be focused on the coach? Yes, to be honest, this was on the coach and his point guard, for the simple reason the point guard is an extension of the coach on court.

Pickett and Blair are forced to handle the ball and make decisions because we don't have a floor general. Same reason Govan doesn't see the ball in crunch time.

Problem is we suck with 4 upperclassmen starting. Not much growing to be done From what I see either Ewing is horrible or he has decided that he needs to develop the freshmen even if it is to the detriment of the team. I believe that he has decided that Kaleb, Jagan, Trey and Jon only have so much up side and the future is in Marko and Jahvon. That is the only reason that I can figure why he never benched Jahvon when he was killing us in the 2nd half. I guess he thinks long-term Jahvon making mistakes is better than Kaleb being solid even if he loses some winnable games this season....imo You sure ain't never scared to tell the truth lol. Your new nickname is "Bonecrusher!" LOL!

Govan had 19 and 13 Derrickson had 23 and 11 How much more stepping up do they need to do? I am talking about in the waning part of the game. Establishing inside position and keeping us from taking long range shots. Jessie did, the whole night. Marcus not as much but he did as well.

It's hard to win close games when you don't have anyone on the perimeter who can get his shot or create for others... We played hard but came up short. Sucks... This. Every word of it. Imagine this team, running this offense, with a senior LJ Peak. Wouldn't be the answer, but a true point guard. We've already tried to put non true point guards at the helm and we've failed everytime. See DSR.

Also need to get them the freaking ball in order for them to put up stats. Butler understood. Get it to Martin and let him do his thing down the stretch. Why we are drawing up plays for skittish freshmen when we have an all big east frontcourt is freaking beyond me. I'm betting the plays WERE drawn up for Govan and Derrickson, but skittish freshmen kept fumbling it away or stalling before ever running them. I hear you but I don't know I didn't see say get the ball inside, get the ball inside. I was sitting right there. smh Jessie was so tired from posting up and not getting the ball. He'll be burned out halfway through BE play if this keeps happening. smh

How could we possibly be focused on the coach? Make those players force it in. Get Govan to foul out the Bulter players and win it from the line. ABSODARNLUTELY!!! RIGHT ON POINT THERE BRO!
