I am going to the game. No matter the talent level, the games are usually close. I hope I just didn't jinx it.

I think the winner of this game will sniff the Top 25.

I will also be coming to DC for the game.
It's time to see what we're made of.
Have to be poised. Can't give up lots of turnovers.
A lot of it is likely competition, but we've done a good job on the boards % wise. They're not a good shooting team at all. We need to box out and secure the rebound, because that's most of their offense is just getting their own misses.

The biggest question will be our rotation. Clearly it will be tighter but how and who? I will be interested in who takes high post duties. MD is the obvious candidate but Jessie might be the guy sometimes as well.
Short corner specialist is Kaleb. I hope he continues his success and eats them alive.

Pickett has the length to get his jumper off at the holes in the zone, not consistent enough yet but could get hot. Doc and Jessie could work the foul line jumper, but of course that weakens our offensive rebounding.
Biggest problem will be forcing passes into the zone, a common mistake with young players.

Obviously this is the test of everything - PE, the OOC schedule, the players, in short - the program. I'm not very impressed with what I've seen of Syracuse so this isn't like our BE opener against Butler but a win (especially a solid double digit win) will go a long way toward letting us finally exhale.

Whoa... I'll take a 1 point win. Cuse is very athletic and has good size, gonna be a tough get and they are definitely the best team we've played to date by a factor of 10.

I for one am super curious to see how Govan performs. Can he stay out of foul trouble? Will he be effective flashing and hitting from the middle of the zone? Can he get double digit rebounds? In other words, will he continue to be dominant against a high major team?
I am flying in for this one.

Syracuse is long and athletic, and I think, from what I've seen that the two guards, Howard and Battle are very good. By no means a great team, but they beat the Twerps. We will have to be much better than we've looked so far to beat these guys. Lets' do it!!!

IT will be very tough. One good thing is we are playing them at home. The old gray mare ain't what it used to be! And that goes for BOTH teams. Good luck on the Hoyas. They can win it!

Pickett has to start stepping up. If Pat's gonna give him 25 minutes (30+ when the bench shrinks in close games), he's gotta start putting up starter's numbers. I know he's a FR, but this is what he's been promised.
So far Pickett's giving us right around what LJ did his FR year, minus LJ's good 1st & last games. That wasn't good. And there are far more holes on this team.
If we hadn't played 8 cupcakes to this point, I think it'd be more of an issue. Now that the real games are beginning, he needs more than just 2 or 3 "there's the upside" moments per game.

As a hater of the schedule can I say Hallelujah we are here. Time to show up. Kick ass during exams and show up fired for this game. Just give 40 minutes of effort!

They will do all they can to get Jessie and Marcus in foul trouble. We have to respond by being very smart and disciplined. There's a huge dropoff when we sub for those two. That's my biggest concern (well, that and whether we'll have a decent home crowd).

Hoyas must push the ball and not let Syracuse set up in its zone. Govan, MD and Kaleb must stay on the floor and out of foul trouble. Pickett must take quality shots and not some of the forced shots he has been taking lately. Blair could be a key as no one else among the four guards has shown the ability to hit the outside shot consistently. Mulmore, Mosley and Dickerson playing under control and finishing at the basket. Careful passes as the Hoyas will not be able to pass over the Syracuse zone as they have with the undersized teams we have been playing. Syracuse is not a great team but at least as good as the middle of the BE pack this year. Hoping for a win, but not expecting one at this point in the team's development.

Do we know of any recruits attending? i think this is the most important question...have to think Isaiah Stewart, khalil whitney, Kofi, Aiden, or previous recruits who already visited.

If you expect a double digit win you may be in for a let down dr q. Syracuse has some issues, but they are still a solid team, and they have a guy who has proven he can coach. We are still a team that can't expect to sniff .500 in our conference, we have a lot of youth learning new systems and each other. While this game will be a good snapshot of where the team really is right now, it is not the test of everything.

I'm not concerned about the number, but rather whether Hoya fans will constitute a solid majority. Fan support has been abysmal this season. The schedule is part of that, but another part has been the gradual erosion of our fan base over the last couple of seasons. Opposing fans always show up (even A&T had a big contingent yesterday) because it's their only chance to see their team this year in DC. I'll be there, I know that.
