Thanks for sharing - fascinating. I assume Orr was one of the two coaches mentioned in this blurb: "The judge said he signed off on the deal in part because of the strong support of Whitney’s family and friends, including two former Seton Hall basketball coaches who wrote letters to the court, and because Whitney has no serious criminal history." If Orr was one of those coaches, and if Khalil doesn't choose Georgetown, that's just cold (assuming Khalil has a good relationship with his dad).

Nice of Orr to do that for a former player but that's his dads life, not his. I don't see it helping us other than it gets your foot in the door.

Relationships with recruiters can be critical. I mean it certainly guarantees us absolutely nothing, but I think saying it does not help to start out with that relationship of trust is just wrong.

I think the fact that Gtown is being listed is what Orr brings, nothing beyond that... If it was that deep he would have committed to Gtown already in my view./. The kid has commented a number of times that "he knows Orr will be there for him regardless of what school he chooses"... Reading this always gave me the impression that he wasn't seriously considering Gtown, felt this way prior to the jump he's made with his great play... It has to be said also that PE needs to be the closer here, not Orr...

I expect that there is an emotional connection here which is worth something more than just getting your foot in the door. I suspect it's enough to get us into Whitney's final group of 3-5 teams, assuming he does that. But it guarantees nothing.

Certainly only a part of the equation, I just think it gets you a little farther than just in the door. But yeah, there is a lot of work to do to try to close it.

Yes. Apparently he’s realeasing his 8 remaining choices. Next week.

Clever...except he posted that 5 days ago or in other words about a week ago...thus why I was asking if there had been any update...

New rivals articles mentions Illinois, Hoyas, and Ky. Says Hoyas have looked to put in some serious work with him. Whitney says relationship with coaches will be the key to his decision.

Whose gotta have him? Illinois
Why? The high scoring wing has been electric during the second live period and would be a true difference maker the second he touches foot on campus if Brad Underwood can land him. There is a strong relationship between Whitney and the Illini and they've devoted a lot of time and energy to land the five-star wing.
The competition: More and more, Kentucky is looking like a very real competitor with others like Oregon, Louisville, Syracuse, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Florida State, Georgetown and more providing competition.

Not saying it's likely, but if the Hoyas managed to pull in Whitney along with one out of Stewart/Cockburn/Igiehon, that would be a helluva class, regardless of who the third member was, but it'd also make the odds pretty high that the third member would be a good one.

Not worried, as coaching carousel always yields us an unexpected gem.

I’m on board with saving one or two rides for the spring for that reason. Plus I think Mackinjo will have a great year and put Hoyas even more so in the spotlight.
