...i think Ewing coming in to seal the deal is exactly what could happen. I think we're underestimating the fact Orr recruited KW's father. How rare is that lol? It appears we have inside traction (relationship-wise)more than other schools.

Whitney is clearly a priority. Based on how the staff has handled other recruitments, Josh LeBlanc's comes to mind, I'm confident that Ewing and Orr have a well thought out closing strategy. Recall, LeBlanc has a relationship withe Darrel Owens, and that led to Patrick closing the deal. With all of the travel Patrick has put in to see recruits across the country, I don't see him ignoring a juicy apple on a a proverbial lower-hanging branch without taking a swipe.

Whitney has been doing everything for the Mac Irvin Fire in the Nike EYBL AAU league as well. He is averaging 22 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He is making his three-point shots at a clip of 43.9-percent. But, he isn’t just taking a few three-pointers either. He is 25-of-57 for the season so far.

TWO-WAY PRODUCER
Too many times when we go about evaluating a prospect, we rely heavily on what they can do on the offensive end and while the game is tilted towards whether one can put the ball through the basket, we forget that there are two sides to the court. Kahlil Whitney is the type of prospect that competes just as hard on the offensive end that he does on the defensive side and it was apparently clear on Saturday evening. Boasting tremendous swagger but with the talent to match, whenever I think of Kahlil Whitney, I remind myself of just how dominant of a two-way threat he has become. A 6-foot-5 wing with a plus-five wingspan, tremendous instincts, a killer motor, and a much-improved perimeter game, Whitney is trending towards a five-star rating and he looked as such in his team’s win.

Great to hear. Have to imagine staff will be all over him come July. Then it's about getting him on campus and hopefully ending the process sooner rather than later. Although a great year by Jamorko might only help our recruiting pitch...

Our boy Jerry Meyer just made an Illinois prediction for Whitney on 24/7.
Not cool, Jerry.

"He's a Chicago kid"?...thought he was from NJ...how long ago was he from Chicago/does he consider that home?...Would he rather play for Brad Underwood or Patrick Ewing/Louis Orr? To me that's a large part of what it comes down to...

To me that's a large part of what it comes down to... He's been playing in Jersey for two years. Chicago is his home/where his parents live.

Illinois has been on him from the very beginning.

So - incentive to crush the Illini in November to help him with his decision.

By all means I hope we beat Illinois badly in the game. But I'm thinking a recruiting decision can be made long before then.

I sat next to his parents at the Syracuse game this season. They seemed intrigued. Although we lost we were winning the whole game.
