I agree that the two programs are completely different. But the fact is that SJU had some quality talent this year, maybe not at the KU level, but definitely god enough to win more than 4 BE games -- and beat Nova and Duke. Having been at the game that we beat them in OT proved to me these guys were totally undisciplined. They made more bonehead plays (including a lane violation BY THE FOUL SHOOTER!) than I'd seen in years. Granted, we matched them pretty evenly but we had nowhere near their talent. Sure Calipari has a larger pool to draw from and is freer to discipline his players since they are so eager to parlay their KU playing time for NBA money but Calipari coaches these kids up and makes sure they understand and execute his system. Mullins players have never shown such discipline. And their actions on the court and in the locker room after their BET loss, was proof of this.

How come I didn’t know until yesterday that Andrew Rowsey was second in the most points scored in one season in Virginia basketball history until Mac pushed him down to third this year? Now he is below Mac and AI for his senior year output. He is also #23 in this category for his output as a junior at the Rockbridge County school. No other player is in the top 25 more than once (although Iverson would have been if he played his senior year). But despite all he accomplished Rowsey ended up getting a ride only to a place like UNC-Asheville where he played a couple of seasons before transferring to Marquette. I guess he had to prove himself on a lower level before he could catch the eyes of bigger programs like NC State and Cincy who also pursued him once he decided to leave UNC-Asheville. McClung didn’t have to follow that same route when he got the offers from Rutgers and Georgetown while still in high school.
