Four new additions to the US House: Brian Steil from Wisconsin who I believe replaces Paul Ryan, Rebecca Sherrill from New Jersey, Xochitl Torres Small from New Mexico and Lori Trahan from Massachusetts. the University nets out with 28 total members in the two Houses.

I think if we were a State, only California, Texas, Florida and New York would be larger than the "State" of Georgetown in the US Congress.

Would be interesting to see rank of Uni's by members of congress/senate. Certainly an impressive and distinguishing accomplishment. On the flip side however, the govt focus does turn some applicants off. One of my best friends who toured Gtwn with his son said the Gtwn tour guide pretty much only focused on working for the govt. The kids father is a tech guy from silicon valley was not impressed. I obviously pointed out that one should not be overly influenced by the tour guide, but so it goes.

If we ever lose to anyone, we can chant "That's alright, that's ok, we will rule the world some day."
Since we lost tonight to the one school of planet earth that beats us out in matters of power politics, we can't even use this chant.
Tonight's loss was a real bummer.

Thank God we are not in France. Emmanuel Macron is angling to shut down the prestigious ENA to assuage the yellow vests.
Georgetown, in the good old USA, still appears to be safe.
Noted that Nora O'Donnell will soon be in Walter Cronkite's old chair at the CBS Evening News.

Was looking at the SFS website with the 100th anniversary coming up. Viewed the prominent alumni page.
1) Both Obama and Trump's Chiefs of staff graduated SFS. VP Cheney's COS in the Bush Admin was an SFS alumnus. Bill Clinton ran the whole show in admin before Bush. 2) The Current Foreign Ministers of the Nations with the world's second and third largest economies (China and Japan)are SFS alumni. The Fed Chair of the largest (USA) graduated our law school. 3) Two the 100 current US Senators are SFS alumni
How do we succeed at getting rated below Emory, USC, Brown and Vanderbilt at US News? I know US News has other criteria but how do we let ourselves fail to measure up on the US News metrics? Maybe all these people I allude to in this thread could give our Board and Leaders some advice.

Has anyone noticed that degree holding Georgetown alumni now include: The Chairman of the Federal Reserve The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff The White House Chief of Staff The Secretary of Homeland Security US Trade Representative The Director of OMB The Senate Minority Whip The House Minority Whip If we were Yale, someone in the Press would be commenting about it. This is a level of influence on the order of Harvard in Kennedy Administration and Columbia in FDR's second term. With the 100th anniversary of the School of Foreign Service and the Gala Weekend, some top level publication like Time or the New York Times Magazine (or being totally snarky, U.S. News and World Report) should have a feature about the School and its great history telling the stories of the past Albrights, Clintons, Davids, Haigs, Karskis, Kirklands, Kirkpatricks, Kissingers, Quigleys, Reiners, Tenets, and the recent and current Abdullahs, Bannons, Durbins, Felipes, Konos, McDonoughs, and Mulvaneys, and how the School has influenced the world. Clinton's speech should get appropriate coverage.

Hey, here's a Triple Hoya who has been in the news a lot lately...
Steve A. Linick began his tenure as the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of State on September 30, 2013. As Inspector General, Mr. Linick is the senior official responsible for identifying operational risks within the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for Global Media, assessing the sufficiency of internal controls, and conducting administrative and criminal investigations of waste, fraud, mismanagement, and misconduct. He is responsible for providing oversight of more than 70,000 Department of State and U.S. Agency for Global Media employees, 270 overseas missions and other facilities worldwide, and more than $70 billion in Department of State, U.S. Agency for Global Media, and foreign assistance resources. He also serves as the Associate Inspector General for designated overseas contingency operations. Before his appointment to this position, he served as the first Inspector General of the Federal Housing Finance Agency from 2010 until 2013.
Mr. Linick’s professional memberships have included the President’s Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force, the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency’s (CIGIE) Investigations Committee, the CIGIE Legislation Committee; the Council of the Inspectors General on Financial Oversight, and the Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities Working Group. Mr. Linick currently is the chair of the CIGIE Inspections and Evaluation Committee.
Mr. Linick served as an Assistant United States Attorney in California (1994-1999) and Virginia (1999-2006). During his tenure at the Department of Justice, he supervised and participated in white-collar criminal fraud cases involving, among other things, corruption and contract fraud against the U.S. in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Mr. Linick earned a Bachelor of Arts (1985) and Master of Arts (1990) in Philosophy and a Juris Doctor (1990). All of his degrees are from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
