My wishlist for FBI warrants: Syracuse, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn and Duke. LSU, Memphis and Kansas State always reek. I am disappointed that Syracuse only appears once on your list. I’d like to nominate West Virginia, and especially Huggy Bear, be added to the list.

Noted Syracuse hack Pete Thamel's two articles about Marc Egerson from 2006 and 2007? If that's our worst, I can live with it.

III never compromised his integrity. Some saw that as not wanting to recruit or play the game. At the end that cost him his job but maybe greater things are in store for him. Totally disagree that this caused JT3 his job. His recruits were fine. They were consistently among the top rated recruits entering the Big East. JT3's problem was he failed to develop and coach them effectively. But he had more talent, on paper, than the vast majority of Big East teams he was competing against when he was putting up crappy records. His recruiting started to fall off a while ago. Nerlen Noels fiasco was probably the final turning point where he gave up even trying to compete for the top guys. Greg Monroe was probably the last top 25 recruit along with the remnants of Chris Wright and Austen Freeman. After that the talent level started to dip with liabilities like Nate Lubick and alot of reaches that were either not up to Big East Level play or didn't want to work hard. We got lucky with Otto Porter but nobody really saw that coming because he didn't play that AAU sneaker game. It was a slow decline but when it happened it happened rapidly. Tre Campbell stunk. Plain and simple. He was counted on to be the handoff from Chris Wright to Markel Starks to DSR and he never improved. Peak was good but III no longer bothered getting the game changing type player (college level) since he became disillusioned with the sneaker-AAU-bag men game. By the time of the complete collapse you knew the talent level wasn't there because he was looking to the transfer market to find our best and most consistent player in Rodney Pryor. At one time we were considered the Princeton Offense on Steroids, or what would happen when the Princeton Offense was played with superior athletes and basketball talent. And then it just became the outdated, slow, pedestrian offense. Now granted the rule changes and freedom of movement severely hurt the Princeton but if you look at the dip in the talent level it's pretty dramatic. 2009-2010 1. Chris Wright McDonalds All American/Europe/NBA Day day contract 2. Jason Clark Europe 3. Austin Freeman McDonalds All American/Europe 4. Julian Vaughn Europe 5. Greg Monroe NBA Lottery 6. Hollis Thompson NBA rotation player 7. Henry Sims NBA rotation player 8. Jerrelle Bennimon Asia/NBA 10 day contract 2016-2017 1. Jonathan Mulmore JUCO transfer 2. LJ Peak NBDL 3. Rodney Pryor Europe 5th year transfer 4. Issac Copeland [injured] [regressed] 5. Jessie Govan Potential NBA level 6. Marcus Derrickson [injured] 7. Akoy Agau probably Overseas 8. Jagan Mosley freshman, inconsistent outside shot 9. Kaleb Johnson inconsistent outside shot 10. Reggie Cameron Europe 11. Bradley Hayes [regressed] 12 Tre Campbell bust 13. Trey Mourning DNP

Hack though he may be, to my knowledge, the assertions made about Egerson and Lutheran Christian Academy were true (Lutheran Christian was subsequently banned by the NCAA for being a "diploma mill" NCAA Bans 15 'Diploma Mills'). With the point being, patting ourselves on the back because "III never compromised his integrity", is maybe a little revisionist.

Perhaps these coaches, recruits and parents start steering some of their prospects our way. We've got Ewing, top notch academics, the city of DC: why not? Juss gotta feeling recruiting will open up for the better in other direction.

The feds won't waste their time ferreting out the $400 that a Hanes rep pays for WVa players.

Let me get this straight - Huggins' argument is that it's morally the right thing to do but that he needs a layer of abstraction like boosters so the kids can't blackmail him.

Times you have complained about Ewing recruiting Chris Sodom from Tennessee Prep Academy : 0 To be honest, I know nothing about Sodom’s recruitment. But thank you for furthering my point. We have been not been perfect and people in glass houses should not throw stones. I sincerely hope that Georgetown does not get ensared in all of this, but I’m not celebrating yet either.

I don't know that any fans are "celebrating" any of this, one way or the other, but yes, any fan of a major program who is not delusional is holding his or her breath a little bit. We can all beat our chests and trumpet that our program would never be involved in such slime (heck, Syracuse fans are doing it by the hundreds), but no one truly knows how widespread this will end up being.

Not good but nowhere near what came out this week...Tball vs MLB I don't see the problem with recruiting either Sodom or Egerson, especially given that it was JT3's first year and this was Ewing's first year. I just don't like the hypocrisy of thinking that it was a JT3 thing, or someone pointing Pete Thamel trolling at JT3 and arguing he somehow had a problem with integrity for taking a chance on a player. It's a NYT link, great, but it doesn't mean it's a valid argument. NYT has plenty of hack writers (Thamel, Chass, Brooks). Don't understand people saying we should cross our fingers either - we haven't been pulling top recruits, our booster situation is nonexistent, and we have virtually no ties with AAU programs. Lack of ties to AAU are things people used as justification to fire JT3 and are criticizing Ewing for now. We even pulled out of a shoe company tournament and our protests made them agree to work condition monitoring in the factories. I'm not making the argument that Georgetown Basketball should be canonized - but Louisville is like an alien world to Georgetown. Pretty sure we can sleep easy on this one and grab the popcorn and revel in the schaudenfreude.
