I see both sides of the GU-IL argument but the one thing I don't understand, and I hope the Board can educate me on, is why the Hoya women don't get better recruits. After all, the value of the GU degree, plus the idea of going to school in D.C., should be much more attractive to women recruits since a WNBA career can't be as attractive in the long run as a GU degree. Especially now that UCONN is back in the BE visibility for these recruits should also increase. I always thought I'd love to recruit these women since we offer so much more from an academic/social perspective than Storrs or Columbus or Gainesville.

This would be good by me too, the more avenues for players the better... Seems like they're going to take a heavy hit when the NBA allows HS kids to enter the draft...

From the NCAA press release linked to the above post:
In the Association’s continuing efforts to support college athletes, the NCAA’s top governing board voted unanimously to permit students participating in athletics the opportunity to benefit from the use of their name, image and likeness in a manner consistent with the collegiate model.
So, in other words, consistent with the collegiate model = nothing is going to happen in the next five years.

Raising taxes is good now... This makes zero sense... Well, it is a diversion for the Senatorial followers of the Grand Leader in the White House.

Raising taxes is good now... This is really stupid. You guys had better be careful, or Senator Burr will challenge you all to duels.

Imagine the problem that could exist on the team if Mac were to get $'s because of the popularity of his youtube gymnastics, while other, better players, were unable to cash in. Or, if some prized freshman were, also, to earn cash even before his first college game. The slippery slope is awaiting.

So he technically could have played anywhere but for Hardaway at Memphis. He would have still been suspended for a certain amount of games but would have at some point been able to play this year. If this is true, he must likely won't play another game in college. Also makes me wonder how the NCAA found out about Penny's involvement in moving his family to Memphis. I can't believe that this is something Penny told his compliance office. If so they would have told him that they can't even recruit Wiseman.

Side note--his lawyer has an outstanding name. Have to assume that's why she was hired. MOD Note: Leslie Ballin is actually a guy. I know, southern names and all. As an aside, he has won some interesting cases.

Time to end the farce of NCAA amateurism. Tell the top talent and those who think they are top talent to play in the D League. These “student” athletes have an avenue to make money.
