Looks like Efton Reid or less active Moses Brown. Longer than he his wide, mobile but not a crazy athlete.
Seems like these kind of kids are perfect 3 or 4 year college centers, but they never end up staying that long. Then they're not strong enough to battle actual NBA centers, and not agile enough or good enough shooters to play in smaller lineups.
Similarly -- Chet H was on ESPNU the other day. I know he's got plenty of skill for that size (and he's nominally not a center), but man... I just don't see how he begins to have a shot in the pros without another 30-50 pounds on that frame. I can't imagine 1 year in college is gonna have him there. He practically snapped in half 3 or 4 times - and he wasn't playing anyone near his size.

The Hoyas have not had a center like this in a while. Someone who is really mobile, quick and bouncy. The last few centers, Jessie, Omer and now Q are all big and long but not the quickest, most explosive players. I would think and guy like this would really help them defensively and give them more options offensively. These types of athletes seem to be the future of the center position.

Jai Smith sounds intriguing! 6-9 PF Can the kid shoot? I watched a 2min highlight video that didn't show him attempt 1 jump shot. If he can't do anything more than Ryan and Q why would we want him?

You take him because you have other shooters... You take him because you need rebounding... You take him because you need shot blocking... You take him because you need defense... You take him because you need attitude... You take him because you need a DAMN DAWG!!! Something that is always needed and that this current team is lacking and I'm not sure it exists in the 2021 recruiting class... Bring him in.

I like him because he is a more explosive and mobile athlete than we currently have at that position, but it would be nice if his offense consisted of more than just dunks and layups. Not sure he needs to be a prolific 3 point shooter, but having the ability to face up and make an open 15 foot jump shot does a lot to space the floor. I don't know anything about his game, but the highlights do not show him doing much more than scoring around the rim. When you look at other guys in the Big East it becomes obvious how valuable guys become when they can expand their game. A guy like Watson at Providence was always a good post guy, defender and would bang people near the rim, but he was limited because he never tried to do anything other than post up and dunk. He added a reliable 15 foot jumper this year and now he is one of the more valuable big guys in the conference. Would really like to see Q add that to his game next year.

Im not certain that we will have that many shooters on our team next year southern but I know for certain that we don't have any 4/5s that have range outside of 5ft. In next year's class we have at least 2 DAWGs. Beard and Billingsley are dawgs. I'm not certain of Jordan, Ryan and Aminu but Beard and Jalin are alphas. I don't much about Jai and I'm not saying he isn't a take but if the kid can only dunk and get putbacks he won't help for 3yrs on our roster. I didn't even see a legit postup in the highlight that I saw....

‘22 class will be an important follow-up to the success we had in the ‘21 class. Need to build recruiting momentum. I hope we land some local kids, but more importantly ballers.

Hoyazeke, I understand that way of thinking, and I don't like highlight video that only show dunks. I think if you're 6-2, you should be able to dunk and if you're 6-9 it shouldn't be a second thought. I would rather see that you can shoot, rebound and handle the ball. But as a big man, on the average team, you're the biggest guy out there and should handle the inside game, and dunk when you can. Others here have described his virtues. Jai looks tall. He's not big, muscular, but he has game and a motor and he can handle. I saw one jumper, and he hit it. That doesn't say much. But as others have said. He's a dawg. And we need more of that with, dare I say our tendency towards finesse players. One of the things I like about Bile is his attitude. That's all Ive got to say, Jai is intriguing and athletic.

From my point of view, elite shooting is exactly what we need.
Imagine adding a Marcus Derrickson to next year’s line-up. That would be dangerous .
