“2022 6’8 Maliq Brown is one to start tracking now. He has a ton of upside to his game, moves incredibly well, and still is young and developing his overall offensive capabilities.” To add to that, Brown was absolutely tremendous on the defensive end, blocking shots and creating havoc with his versatility and getting on the boards. The sophomore prospect has a huge upside and now that he is solely focused on basketball, the sky is the limit for this young man according to Coach Lemcke. “Maliq will be our first four-year player that we have had and he has already passed two other ACC guys in Mamadi (Diakite) and Aamir (Simms) in where they were at the same age,” Lemcke said. “His basketball IQ, especially on the defensive end, is so high, the number of deflections he gets, the number of steals he gets, the number of rebounds… it is at such a high level and his offense continues to grow. The big thing we worked on this off-season was getting more aggressive offensively and then starting to be confident in his shot. The next phase (in his game) is to get him comfortable as a 4-man or 3-man, instead of a 5-man… If what he has done in the last year, while also playing football, is any indication now that he is focusing on hoops, who knows where he will be in the coming years.” Right now, he holds offers from Virginia Tech, Georgetown, TCU, Old Dominion, and James Madison but Coach Lemcke also mentioned that schools like Maryland, Louisville, Cincinnati, NC State, and several others are showing interest his way as well. phenomhoopreport.com/2022-68-maliq-brown-blue-ridge-is-a-name-you-need-to-know-about-now/

Rodney Rice, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard from The Bullis School (MD), took unofficial visits to Kentucky (Feb. 28) and Louisville (Feb. 29) this past weekend. Rice is ranked as the No. 56 overall player in the Class of 2022 and the No. 12 ranked shooting guard, according to 247Sports. “Both visits went well,” said Angelo Hernandez, Team Durant’s 16U coach and director of recruiting. “At Kentucky, we got a chance to get to know the coaches and tour the facilities (Rupp Arena and the practice facility). They have been in touch since the DMV Live period last June. They like big skilled guards and Rodney is definitely on their radar. They will be watching him very closely this spring/summer. “Louisville was a great trip,” he added. “Coach [Chris] Mack and the staff showed Rodney a lot of love and is making him a priority moving forward. He, too, likes big skilled guards and thinks Rodney would be a great fit. “Georgetown, Maryland, Alabama, South Carolina, Michigan and Louisville have been showing the most interest lately." www.zagsblog.com/2020/03/03/2022-guard-rodney-rice-visits-kentucky-and-louisville/I would love to have this kid at Georgetown. Bullis is my alma mater and I have confidence that not only will the school help him develop his basketball skills but with overall academic/life skills as well. Bullis sends a lot of kids to the Hilltop and he would be a great fit at Georgetown.

WHO IS HE? Harris is a 6-foot-4 lead guard that can play a variety of roles along the perimeter. The product out of New Brunswick, New Jersey, completed his freshman season at The Patrick School, before moving onto St. Thomas Aquinas for his sophomore campaign.
This past winter, Harris emerged as a high-major prospect in the backcourt. He averaged close to 16 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals per game. Slated to run with the New York Jayhawks this summer, his travel coach, Jay David, assessed what all Harris brings to the floor.
“For a lead guard, he has great size and athleticism. He has a high-level jumper, skillset and leadership abilities for just a sophomore,” David said. “He has two more years to develop and build on his already high skillset which will improve in time. His body and athleticism are already built like a college player.”Others showing early interest include Georgetown, Marquette, Temple and Virginia Tech. www.hudl.com/video/3/5168368/5e95fd672aa7091090d3c9e9

The newly-minted member of national powerhouse Dream Christian Academy, which is producing high-major talent over it’s short time of being founded, they’ve produced several high-major prospects with the latest being Lloyd Jr. The elite-wing prospect was starring at Taft High School before announcing his move to DCC. He holds offers from Kansas, Arkansas, Georgetown, TCU, St. John’s, San Diego State, Arizona State, USC, UMass, Dayton, DePaul, UNLV, Fresno State, and Manhattan. In addition, he told Stockrisers.com that the newest programs to show interest and reach out to his camp are Louisville, Florida State, Illinois, and Oregon. The Louisville Cardinals had completed a virtual visit with Lloyd Jr. and he said ‘The meeting went well’ and he pointed out the tradition and the ‘cool’ coaching staff. stockrisers.com/2020/05/22/top-60-sophomore-ramel-lloyd-jr-talks-recruitment-g-league-route/

Coming off of a monster sophomore season at Elkton (Va.) East Rockingham, 6-foot-7 forward Tyler Nickel looked primed for a big summer on the grassroots circuit with Team Loaded. COVID-19 has kept him sidelined, but it hasn't hurt Nickel’s recruitment in any way. After scoring nearly 1,500 points during his first two years of high school, Nickel now has offers from James Madison, Old Dominion, Penn State, VCU and Virginia Tech. He has tremendous size, can shoot with range beyond the three-point line and plays multiple positions with skill and a high motor. Because of his versatility and skill, Nickel is primed to make a move into our 2022 rankings next week, and he’s also gotten additional interest from Clemson, Georgetown, Marquette, Michigan, NC State, Ohio State, Purdue, Texas Tech and Virginia, among others. Last fall, he saw Georgetown, James Madison, Ohio State, Richmond, VCU, Virginia and Virginia Tech. “Tyler’s competitiveness and versatility set him apart," said East Rockingham coach Carey Keyes. "He is a bonafide scorer on all three levels and has increased his three-point range significantly. His willingness to compete on defense and on the boards complement his offensive firepower. He has the self-motivated dedication and drive to improve his game in all aspects and is eager to prove himself against the best players in the country." Look for his recruitment to continue to expand as more programs find out about him and mark him down as one to watch, especially if grassroots events are able to fire up in the late summer. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/three-point-play-elijah-weaver-super-soph-both-gach

Corey Evans is really late to the party here. Hoyas already offered Jaylen Martin back on March 30th.

Mississippi native Mason Manning emerged as a high-major talent in the 2022 class. This season, I got a first-hand look at him and First Love Christian Academy. Manning didn’t score much on the rainy night in December but did the unnoticeable things on the floor. Manning says that despite not being a crazy athlete, his offensive intangibles like shooting, running the floor, are some of his best traits. In addition, he’s an elite playmaker, says he loves getting his teammates involved and despite being young, isn’t afraid to be vocal and lead a team. With his game emerging, programs are beginning to file in and begin recruiting him. With the contact period under two weeks away, several programs have already offered with many entering the mix. He already holds offers from LSU, Baylor, TCU, Miss. State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Florida. Of those offers, Pat Chambers and Penn State are the newest after they offered him yesterday. They’ve had the most looks at Manning as his teammate DJ Gordon, is signed with the Nittany Lions for their incoming class. Among the other programs involved: Villanova, Oregon, Clemson, Auburn, Georgetown, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pittsburgh. On this list, the last program noted is Pitt, they’ve also gotten an extra look at Manning due to the fact that he’s just minutes away from campus. He’s also visited Pitt. stockrisers.com/2020/06/06/top-75-sophomore-mason-manning-with-many-suitors-entering-contact-period/
