If he is still on scholarship but not on the team, does he count against the 13 max scholarship players?

Boy, that vaunted recruiting class of Peak, White, Campbell, Copeland & Mourning is down to Mourning....maybe if he comes back healthy. OUCH! I really wish Paul was still around.

If he is still on scholarship but not on the team, does he count against the 13 max scholarship players? I would speculate no, although I am sure it depends on the reason. Pretty sure we were able to keep Tyler Adams on scholarship without it counting. Of course I have no idea whether this one is a medical situation that would allow for that.

Wow, I caught up with Tre a little before the Kenner season started and we chatted for a bit. He said he was trying to get right in time for the season and was looking forward to getting back on the court. He's a good kid, and I thought his play was hurt by being put on such a short leash last season (not wholly undeserved, but still...). Hopefully he gets healthy and gets his degree.
Best of luck to him.

Good luck to Tre. Happy to read he is still under scholarship. Hope he makes the most of what is still a great opportunity for him to finish his degree and move forward.

Sad to hear. I'll always have a soft spot for Tre Campbell after he got into that arguing match with JP Macura on Xavier his freshman year. Man, TC really seemed to go OFF against them. I had so much hope for him his freshman year, I remember people were speculating he could end up even better than Markel. But pg was never his natural position and we tried forcing him to be something he wasn't.
Well Trey Mourning, you have one last season to make that fab frosh group that was supposed to bring Georgetown back to greatness actually worth something. Otherwise, that will quite possibly go down as the biggest disappointment of a recruiting class in Georgetown history.

Good luck, Tre, and best of health! Tough luck with the injuries, but gave it his all as a teammate...
We're down to 7 returning players.

I am not sure how a situation like this normally works but I am glad to see the university is going to honor his scholarship. If it still counts against the total available scholarships then I guess we will play with only 12 scholarship players this year, which is fine. You read stories where some schools don't honor those scholarships for various reasons, and from what I have heard the scholarships are technically year to year so they don't HAVE to honor them, but it is good to see Georgetown do the right thing. Good luck Tre!!!

Since we're not bothering to explain what we're doing, or even give any hints as to what the situation is, I'm just going to assume the program is doing something crappy to the guy. Why should I assume otherwise? Here's how you explain someone not being able to play again due to injury the right way : www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/121011aaa.html

How can keeping a guy who won't be on the team on scholarship even be construed as doing something crappy to him? You don't even present an argument how this move could even do anything to benefit us as we don't even have a scholarship overload. Worst case scenario for Tre is he can use this season a "sit out" year and transfer for his final year while not having academic issues since we are still honoring the scholarship. Geeze, the absurd negativity and unwarranted criticism around here is garbage.

There are exactly ZERO reported instances of GU doing the "crappy" thing to its players, so you are basically just whining that you aren't getting all the information you want. So you bash the program, making you the only one doing a crappy thing. Good luck with that.

How can keeping a guy who won't be on the team on scholarship even be construed as doing something crappy to him? Why are we releasing him from the team in August? I get not playing him if he's not in Ewing's plans. Why release him from the team, even if he's injured though?

Perhaps it became clear he would never recover enough to play college ball. Maybe he decided he wanted to finish school this year and move on with his life, rather than tie up a scholarship for two years. Patrick is not going to cast aside a brother Hoya.
