Still just a rumor. Would be lovely, but.... let’s wait and see. At the time I thought he really liked GU and just opted to stay home. Maybe he's just decided to put a little distance between himself and home and has decided to go to his heart's first choice (and the best coach for a big man in Div 1). I like. I hope we get some confirmation on this, because this incoming group would be fantastic with this pickup, and our D should be miles better than it was just two short seasons ago.

Any update here? I've watched him play a lot (my parents went to State). I'd say more athlete than great ball player at this point, and can sometimes go for the big play rather than making the more fundamentally sound play. Nonetheless, he'd be a great addition, and I think Ewing could do wonders for his game.

I’m sure State is going to do anything they can to convince him to stay. I hope he ends up here; we’ll have a complete (talented) lineup 1-5.

NC St site posted an update about 20mins ago. Stating their source this morning said Keatts might just salavage this thing. Also said July 1 is critical date to transfer by in order to be eligible next season
After digging around for the last 48 hours, I wanted to provide y'all with another update on Manny's status heading into the weekend. After nearly one week of rumors swirling that Bates would be exiting the program, the possibility of his return continues to look better by the day.

I’m sure they have Bates locked in a room until he says he’ll stay. Full court press. Can’t keep a kid around if he’s not felling it though.

If you want to leave, but your coach convinces/pressures you to stay, that doesn’t usually make for a good outcome for the player. The coach cares most about retaining his job and feeding his family.

Keatts must have shown Bates some NBA mock drafts from before Yurtseven left NC State and while he was sitting out at Georgetown, followed by where Yurtseven was actually drafted. Omer cost himself at least hundreds of thousands of dollars, likely millions, by spending two years in Ewing's program.

Yeah, but he cost himself that money by staying college, not be deciding to go to college elsewhere. Two more years at NC St would have left him undrafted as well...

Given this most recent rumor of Bates being coerced to stay at NC State, should Ewing be focusing on another athletic big and not put all of his eggs in this one basket? Or, are there no more athletic bigs out there for now?

Or, are there no more athletic bigs out there for now? Georgetown must be the only staff in the nation thinking they need four centers. Some get by with one. There are only two confirmed scholarships graduating in 2022 (Carey, Rice). Focus on precision in 2022 and not just offering to anyone and everyone. Georgetown already has 48 offers open.
