Just throwing it out there: Which position should be filled if we had a spot, which it seems like a good chance that we do atm. PG or PF? Or which player would we want the most out of the last few that have come up?

Following his Friday afternoon game, three-star guard Camryn Carter said the pandemic has thrown a wrench of sorts in his recruitment. Carter, who holds offers from programs such as Georgetown, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, says his contact with coaches has been slow as of late. “Nothing is the same anymore,” Carter said. “it seems like Covid changed everything for me.” The hiccup could provide an opening for an interested mid-major to slide into the thick of the race if it so chooses. How Carter finishes the season could determine the trajectory of his recruitment, as the 2021 prospect remains on the board and looking for a landing place. Carter finished Friday’s game against Wasatch Academy with five points, four assists and a pair of steals. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/cassidy-s-takeaways-montverde-invitational

It seems that our recruiting of 2021 has quieted down a lot. Are we pretty much set with our current 5 and looking at 2022 now or does it seem like we have any lines out there in case a need arises?

There's not a lot of HM players left to recruit tbh. It's like that every year around this time but Covid moved up the timetable for kids to commit by a lot. I'm sure if the staff thought there was someone out there worthy of pursuing they would, and they're still involved with some longshot recruits like Baldwin and Holmgren.

I would assume that the staff can't be too aggressive with recruits for next year until they have a better handle on who will be on the roster next year. At this point they are already one player over the scholarship limit with Aminu, if everyone with eligibility stayed. I am sure there have been conservations with everyone on the team and staff has idea of what "might" happen, but probably don't want to, or can't, make any other commitments to players until they have more clarity. It sounds like they are still "engaged" with those few high profile guys, but I don't think there is any real chance with those guys (Baldwin, Holmgren). Depending on if scholarships open or not, I would think the staff might look to add another PG or power forward. that could be a high school recruit or could be a transfer. If I had to guess I think there will be at least one more player on the roster next year, who is not currently on the team or one of the committed recruits.

Does Carey count against the scholarship number if he returns?

Does Carey count against the scholarship number if he returns? Yes. He would have to. If somebody has eligibility left, they'll have to use it before getting a "free" year. Otherwise kids who know they'd be leaving after the year (talented sophs, I could imagine) could say they're using their "free" year and not count against the team limit. I don't see why it'd be any different for grads who still have time.

And just to clarify that if someone uses their free year to come to us as a grad transfer, they do count against our total. And based on the situation I would rather have the staff look at grad transfers in PF or PG if we were to get another spot open which gives them time to wait and see how everything shapes in the spring and summer in terms of how many we have.

Wilson In all intense purposes would be the 4th center on the roster. We all know mutombo is gonna play some. I just don't see the minutes there for him next year again. And Holloway just doesn't look athletic enough to get time over guys Sibley and plus Mohammed Billingsly and Riley are on the way.

Washington: “The whole staff is recruiting me. One of my friends, Quade Green, is over there. He is a great point guard, he can score and facilitate. I really think that right now they need just a couple dogs to come in and I can be that.” Washington State: “I’m talking with coach (Derrick) Phelps over there. He’s a point guard you know, and they have been winning a little bit lately, so I've been noticing that. I like that they keep it real with me, they need a guard to run the show and they think I can do that for them.” Seton Hall: “They need a guard who can do things for them. I am a local guy you know, so New Jersey you know they are talking about that.” San Diego State: “They need a scoring guard, a guard who can come in and facilitate and play defense. They really emphasize defense and they have developed some guards over there.” “I’m really taking things day by day, there may be one or two other schools that haven’t been made public yet that I may put out soon too. But I’ll probably have a final decision made by the end of February here, so soon.” Greer knows things are winding down and he talked about what would go into his final decision. “Location doesn’t really matter to me, whatever the best fit is. You know, I’ve been all around so I am not really too worried about where it is.” Greer continued, “Ill be looking for a coach who will allow me to play my game, knowing that I am going to make more good decisions on the floor than bad decisions. A coach who believes in me.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/lynn-greer-iii-hoping-to-commit-by-end-of-february

If he stays, he will get a high quality education and when he develops more physically, he will get an opportunity to play basketball somewhere in the world. So why would he leave?

I guess anything is possible, but I don't see four guys, who are all strictly centers, being on the roster next year. I had hoped one of them could develop the ability to play some minutes the four spot, but I don't see that from the performance this year. I don't think it would be fair to try to have Ryan learn to play the four as a freshman next year. I don't know what will happen but I expect there will only be 3 true centers on the team next year.

Why not have him start learning the 4, if he has an outside jumper out to the free-throw line,, and can handle. Seems like he's had good training all is life. But what do I know, nothing here! Maybe by next season Q will have developed his outside game more.
