As we come to the end of the summer races, we still have a couple of events. Emily Infeld was supposed to race the 3000m in the Birmingham, England Diamond League race. Unfortunately, she had a hip problem and decided to come home and get some therapy for that. In Brooklyn Rachel Schneider ran in the Brooklyn mile. Rachel had been injured this summer, so she missed running in the nationals. She is on the comeback trail and did well in Brooklyn. Since it is still officially summer, this race on Long Island qualifies. It was the Long Island Hoka One One Mile.
Emily Infeld, 6th in the 10,000m at the World Championships in London, came down in distance to race the speedsters in the mile and did very well coming from last with 400m to go to finish 4th with, I believe, a PR for the mile:

Emily Infeld was 17th in the 5th Avenue mile today in 4:30.3 just under her PR on the track. Unfortunately the leaders were running under 4:20.
Rachel Schneider was 3rd in the Minnesota Mile in 4:42.

As summer has given away to fall and fall will soon turn into winter, the roads taken by some of the Georgetown grads include marathons. Yesterday was the California International Marathon from Folsom (where I currently am) to Sacramento. Former Hoya standout, Kate Landau, was part of a group of elite runners contesting the USATF Marathon Championships. At the age of 41 Kate is running well and came in 31st among the women, and won her 40-44 age group and was 2nd masters' runner in a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 39 seconds. That time gives Kate a B qualifier for the 2020 Olympic Trials. Congratulations Kate! Kate's sister Caryn was also an outstanding runner for the Hoyas.

It is summer every day in Hawaii, so here is a mile race result that was part of the Honolulu Marathon weekend. One of our great alumna Katrina Coogan ran in the mile.
The results, however, are very confusing, as the women were incorporated into the men's results, and the first women was credited with the same time as the first man.
The top 15:
M-Mile EDWARD CHESEREK UNITED STATES 1 1 0:03:59 F-Mile MIRRIAM CHEROP KENYA 2 1 0:03:59 M-Mile WILLIAM LEER UNITED STATES 3 2 0:04:03 M-Mile NICHOLAS WILLIS UNITED STATES 4 3 0:04:04 M-Mile MASON FERLIC UNITED STATES 5 4 0:04:06 F-Mile AISHA PRAUGT LEER UNITED STATES 6 2 0:04:06 F-Mile NICOLE SIFUENTES UNITED STATES 7 3 0:04:07 F-Mile JAMIE MORRISSEY UNITED STATES 8 4 0:04:10 M-Mile HAMISH CARSON NEW ZEALAND 9 5 0:04:11 F-Mile VIRGINIA SERENO UNITED STATES 10 5 0:04:21 F-Mile KATRINA COOGAN UNITED STATES 11 6 0:04:22 M-Mile Tsukasa Kawarai JAPAN 12 1 0:04:32 M-Mile Ryan Tsang UNITED STATES 13 2 0:04:37 M-Mile Narayana Schneider USA 14 3 0:04:44 M-Mile Noah Garfield UNITED STATES 15 4 0:04:54
So, by these results Katrina came in 11th overall and 6th woman with a time of 4:22. So take these results with a grain of salt.

2017 rankings, this time by letsrun.com
In the American women's 5000m
4. Emily Infeld • Nike Bowerman Track Club • 27 years old • 8:55.41 3k sb (#8 in U.S.) • 14:56.33 5k sb (#1 in U.S. indoors)
DL results: none
The injury-prone Infeld only ran one 3k and one 5k this year, but her 5,000 was so impressive — a three-second PR and U.S. leader of 14:56 in Heusden — that she comes in at #4. Other than Rowbury-Houlihan-Huddle, the only other U.S. woman under 15:10 outdoors was Natosha Rogers, and she was only 11th at USAs in the 5k.

In addition to be #1 in the US in the 10,000m, Emily also was #8 world wide (behind Ethiopians and Kenyans).
