If Ronny's got a class of 2018-20 son who's a 4 star or more, this is a good hire. Maybe that's the beautiful family we're talking about.

The PE/staff has to get a statement out about Pickett..
This is a signature DMV recruiting win for PE & staff, it should be milked for all it's worth..
Here's what NC State put out about getting the Beverly kid today, Gtown should do something similar..

Pickett's commitment was in the Washington Post this morning I think that's a good start.

In less than 6 months PE and staff are methodically transforming Gtown into a national destination school again. We have the facilities, basketball lineage, location(DC), academic reputation to directly go toe to toe with any school in the country. PE and staff have realized this. We've begun to mend relationships with programs in the DMV, made inroads up n down the east coast and have a presence in the south and beginning to branch out west. Kudos to the staff making the effort. It will pay off big time.

...and beginning to branch out west... And playing in that nationally-televised tournament in Oregon is definitely going to bolster these efforts.

Team wasn't ready for that tournament according to the staff. I respect the process. The team lost its best players, lost its best recruit, has a new coach and staff, will be running an NBA pro-style offense that no one on the team is familiar with and is in transition. The school made a realistic assessment of where they are at the moment and made a hard decision.
This all being said, it feels like the staff is definitely headed in the right direction on terms of recruiting.

Sure, Michigan State would have been a stretch, but potential second and third round opponents (Connecticut, Portland) were not unreasonable opponents. If they are and the team's this weak, let's skip the schedule speculation and pencil in St. Leo's, Shenandoah, and the MEAC All-Stars.

As far as I know Ohio State is still playing despite firing a coach in June and losing the best players on their roster..

Ohio State doesn't have a brand new coach. They're coach was a head at Butler, another College program. Pat is a brand new coach, who has never coached at this level, it's totally different.
You guys may not like it, but it's a coach being honest about where he thinks he and his team are...

If they're not ready for that tournament, then just shut the whole thing down. The tournament is nothing more than three college basketball games. Are we really so delicate that we can't play three games and test ourselves? If JT3 were still here, I'm guessing that we would have played in this tournament. But we would have done it with a recruiting class of Antwan Walker and ?, and might have lost a couple of other guys to transfer along the way. We probably would have filled out the roster much as we did last year, with a patchwork of grad transfers, JuCos and walk-ons, all of whom would have been learning the offense as they settled in. And we probably would have been clobbered by MSU, and maybe split the remaining two games. So, probably the same outcome. So what's the difference?
