We didn't have a team in the 4x1500 Championship of American relay, but we had one graduate, Sam, running for Oregon (still wondering how she had so much eligibility):
3 Oregon 17:39.78 Emma Abrahamson (4:33.5), Lilli Burdon (4:25.8), Jessica Hull (4:19.7), Samantha Nadel (4:19.8)

The men's DMR was a little disappointing. Scott Carpenter was supposed to run the mile leg, and he ran 3:57 indoors in the Hoyas' 3rd place finish at the NCAAs. Joe White ran the fastest 800m. With Scott on the anchor, I think we win.

I believe we were winning the DMR going into the final leg. It is sometimes a curse leading into the mile leg. Everybody can sit on the leader making him do all the work.

All very solid except the anchor--too bad scott carpenter did not run, maybe would have gotten the win. I assume Carpenter is injured.

I thought Scott might be injured, but voila he shows up in the 4x 1-mile relay:

I will try to get the splits. Interesting that they had Joe White on the anchor. He is a great 800m runner, but not so good in the mile, at least so far.

The splits:
9 Georgetown 16:47.60 Darren Fahy (4:07.6), Amos Bartelsmeyer (4:08.5), Scott Carpenter (4:08.2), Joseph White (4:28.3)
So Joe's leg is doubly baffling.

Good to see all Hoyas under 2:10. I was impressed by Kennedy's time, as she is usually a miler.

The men did not have an entry in the 4x800m, which is probably why Joe ran the 4x1 mile. I expect the Hoyas to challenge for the win next year, if all are well. Runners to chose from include Joe, Spencer Brown (redshirting this outdoor season), Ken Rowe, Rey Rivera, and Ruach Padhal.

Except for Jon's win in the 10,000m and Mike Crozier's finish in the 10,000m, this year's Penn Relays was disappointing.

When was the last time that we didn't even enter a team in a COA? Virginia Tech walked away with this in 7:13 going 1:48, 1:48, 1:46, 1:49, but second was Penn State in 7:20 and even the V-Tech splits aren't completely out of the realm of possibility for the guys on the Gtown squad; Hoyas would have been more competitive here than in the 4xmile*. *Edited to add, if we were going to skip a COA event.

Agree very strange strategy re racing/lineups--overall a mostly subpar outing for both squads--no idea what coaches are thinking-whatever they are doing re training with the women is not working at all. For the men it seems they should have had a shot at winning dmv + 4 x 800--at least top 3

Just what I thought about the men's DMR:
White looked comfortable in his stride and pulled into second place after his first 400 meters. Coming off the first turn of the second lap, White took over the lead and split 1:46.24 over the two-lap frame before handing off to All-American Darren Fahy (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) for the final 1,600 meters of the race. Leading from the start, Fahy was tasked with setting the pace for a field of seasoned milers. The steeple specialist held the lead for much of his stanza but over the final 400 meters, the pack pushed forward with strong kicks. Fahy would take the Hoyas through the line at 9:35.84.
