Huge props to Trey for leaving the Hilltop with both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree. Great stuff.

This was his first workout, and he also has workouts scheduled with Sacramento and Miami.

Am I the only one a little surprised Mourning's getting so much attention? I know this is a weak draft, but he's far from an NBA-caliber player. I mean, real far. Happy for him nonetheless, of course.

Happy for him nonetheless, of course. He is 6'9" and very coachable. If he is capable of consistently hitting the NBA 3 there is a spot for him on a team. Zo is respected through the league but that won't get him drafted. I thought Trey was gonna give us double figures this past season and I also believe the concussion is the only reason he didn't......imo

He struggled sometimes against the better Big East competition, so not sure how it would work in the NBA. If playing professionally is his goal then I wish him the best of luck and hope he finds a place where he can pursue his dream. He has represented Georgetown University in a very positive way during his college career and I hope things work out for him.

Nice for Trey to get some run. Hey, crazier things have happened - not much crazier, but crazier!

If I were counseling Trey Mourning, I would advise him to leverage his father's connections into something a bit more realistic, like a job in sports management or Wall Street. He was a bench player for a first round NIT team as a 5th year senior. There is no basketball future for him.

Good on him for chasing a dream. Not to mention, Trey is a very bright guy with a smart and supportive family behind him. I think he's probably got the counseling thing covered. Keep in mind, if Trey chooses to eventually go down the sports management road (he did get his Master's after all), going through the process of trying to earn a slot somewhere only enhances his resume for that further on down the line. I'd argue that this is the smartest thing he could possibly do because there's nothing that could compare to what he'll be experiencing first-hand and, if he catches on somewhere, all the better.

This could be the most condescending post I've seen here and I've made plenty of them myself. I understand that you probably only meant it as a hypothetical but that's not how it reads.

The only thing I would add to the discussion is that it is only fair to let the young man pursue his dreams. I can see both sides.

What is condescending about pointing out that a borderline power 6 conference player has no NBA future and is not going to make a living playing basketball? This isn't some kind of scorching hot take - we all saw with our own eyes what type of player he is. He takes terrible shots and fouls at an extraordinary rate. I know many posters are loathe to criticize Hoyas, especially one with Trey's lineage, but come on. This isn"t LJ or Marcus or Jesse, this is a guy who wouldnt have seen the floor had Derrickson come back or Yurt been eligible. He clearly only got invited by the Heat because of his father's connections to the franchise. It is silly to pretend otherwise. I wish the kid well, but reality has to set in at some point.

www.casualhoya.com/2022/5/16/23074986/hoya-saxa-usc-upstate-transfer-g-f-bryson-mozone-commits-to-georgetown-patrick-ewing-big-eastThe Ryan Mutombo stuff here seems completely untrue, rejected by Ryan himself. Does anyone understand what they are talking about here about regarding Trey Mourning? I went over the scholarship table and I don't understand what they are talking about here - Georgetown was at or under the scholarship limit I think in each of the years where Trey Mourning overlapped with Patrick Ewing : 2017-2018 Malinowski, Sodom, Walker, Blair, Pickett, Mulmore, Mosely, Govan, Dickerson, Derrickson, Johnson, Mourning (12) 2018-2019 Govan, Akinjo, McClung, LeBlanc, Pickett, Malinowski, Mourning, Johnson, Blair, Mosely, Carter (11) plus Yurtseven (12) Where is the evidence that Trey Mourning was converted to walk on status?
