Thad Matta out at Ohio State Would be surprised if Mack left Xavier for OSU. The Buckeyes could pay more, but seems like it's a tougher place to win and Mack is a Xavier alum/has job security for life there. Holtmann's name being in the mix concerns me. Can't see Miller leaving with the recruiting class he's got coming in.

Is that an actual list, or a list of "Good coaches who OSU should consider, and who would consider taking the job if OSU offered" that Thamel pulled out of his ass?
I'd bet on the latter. I mean, if you asked me to name a list of 6 potential OSU coaches, I probably would have named 5 of these (I forgot that Buzz existed in the deep cover of ACC mediocrity, to be honest).

Not a big Buzz fan, but he'd be smart to take OSU if he was under consideration. His star is only going to fall farther in the next few years at Va. Tech (and yes I know they have some decent recruiting classes). He could get a pay increase and it's easier to win at Ohio State than it is at Virginia Tech.

But i think Ohio State fans would be disappointed if they got Buzz who hasn't really done anything at Tech yet.

Buzz inherited a Virginia Tech team that went 2-16 in the ACC the year before he was hired. He only won two conference games his first year but has gone 10-8 the past two years (making the tournament this past season).

Justin Simon is a basketball player that looks like a defensive end.
Marvin Clark is a basketball player that looks like he could be the next Antonio Gates.
Individually, they’re impressive.
Together? They’re the major reason why Chris Mullin expects his third season as head coach of St. John’s to be his most fruitful.
“They’re two guys that brings experience and they’re two guys who bring a different physical dimension,” Mullin said prior to an offseason practice on Tuesday in Queens. “They’re two guys who can come in and immediately make a difference. They’re two guys who come from places of significance.”

I mean, I'd have been happy if we got Greg McDermott, but I'm not real sure the Ohio State people will be.

Funny how quickly Creighton fans are being put back into their place after sitting on their perch after one decent season. Remember them ridiculing Gtown after JTIII got fired. Would love to snag one of their shooting guards recruits, both top 100 kids, if they back out.

McDermott and now Fred Hoiberg have been mentioned as serious contenders for the OSU job (and McDermott apparently has an offer).
What do they have in common? Neither was on Pete Thamel's made-up list.
Hack.

So the coach at Creighton turned down Ohio State. Kind of amazing.

He has been pretty successful there, and makes pretty decent money.
There is something to be said for keeping a job that you love in a place that you enjoy.
