Can anybody explain to me how that makes sense in any way?
Recap:
1) Leadership still doesn't have a bill
2) They will be writing the bill over lunch
3) Vote is tomorrow.
4) That's ok, because it doesn't matter what's in it

So "skinny repeal" is all a ploy to get the Senate to pass a bill they don't like or want as law under the guise of "getting to conference committee", while the House immediately passes it and turns it into law? House members don't care, they're gerrymandered in. Republicans lying to Republicans!
It's almost like you should actually legislate and follow procedure in good faith to avoid getting screwed.

As crass as this is going to sound, how long will it be until Trump starts blaming brain cancer for McCain's decision? Kudos to Senator McCain for following through on a promise instead of taking a legislative "win" in its stead: Skinny repeal fell short because it fell short of our promise to repeal & replace Obamacare w/ meaningful reform t.co/tZISIvccOO — John McCain (@senjohnmccain) July 28, 2017 Remember when this sort of statement was more the norm than the exception? As thankful as I am to Senator McCain, I'm disturbed by the fact that the vote was 49-51. As egregiously bad as the attempt at repeal was, it still had 49 votes of support and there aren't many more John McCain's coming through the door. I hope that statement McCain made both with his vote and with his focus considering his personal health situation gives at least a handful of politicians a reminder of what the job is and what principles mean. That act by the Senator reminded me of the McCain of a decade ago.

I just sent Sen. Lisa Murkowski, C'80 a thank you note for her vote.

What new health care bill? Are they going to craft a new one over brunch tomorrow?
Instead of threatening people into passing something that has failed multiple times, how about listening to the American people? According to most polls, the majority of Americans don't want the current plan repealed in favor of whatever crap these people keep throwing against the wall in hopes that it'll stick. You lost, you orange infant. Again. Get the memo already and start serving the interests of the people you're supposed to be representing.

He is only concerned with himself and his oversized yet fragile ego. If congress doesn't give him what he wants, he will move to the revenge stage...

What confuses me is the number of people that still support him knowing exactly the same thing. Heck, even Ed's been really quiet. I'm willing to bet he finally couldn't continue to rationalize the level of cognitive dissonance any longer. I guess if someone professes to share your principles, all the while crapping all over them, it still takes one a while to realize that the actions are the truth and the hollow words (jumbled with a bunch of other hateful, stupid, offensive, lying, damaging ones) are false. Hope takes a while to be dashed. I'm shocked that there are still the number of people supporting this person and his tactics. There are people that continue to think that Trump can "handle" China and North Korea and the Middle East. The same man that pleads with President Pena Nieto to not make him look bad for being a liar. The same man that gets ridiculed by the PM Trudeau and has no response because Trudeau is right. The same guy that is used as a punch line by the Australian PM. I'm not saying Trump should respond to every little jab (though, he does all of the time except when, as in these cases, he'll get his ass handed to him). I'm saying that the fact that the American President is a joke to those three leaders is an embarrassment because they're completely correct about this buffoon. I chuckle, in a sad way, every time I read the title of this thread. I used to find it just funny. Now I find it sad. Because, though it hasn't happened yet, it's clear that the right is going to lie and threaten and attempt to squeeze currently insured people to force some flaming bag of crap through to replace something that the majority of the country doesn't want replaced unless it's a clear improvement over the status quo. I feel like so much of what we've seen so far is going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.

I feel like so much of what we've seen so far is going to get a lot worse before it gets any better. There's a couple of networks that act like propagandists for the president, while simultaneously screaming "liberal media bias" or "fake news" at other news organizations for covering stories they choose to ignore, or downplay. I know you're probably shocked to learn this... One of those news organizations most popular hosts even pushed an insane conspiracy theory, for a week, about a murdered DNC staffer on primetime television to millions of viewers. A story that has fallen apart so badly the company is being sued, yet nobody has been fired or even forced to apologize... The story appears to have been used as a diversionary tactic to shield viewers from negative stories about the President. Yesterday when the big news hit this was the coverage breakdown: Wall Street Journal: Grand Jury Washington Post: Grand Jury NY Times: Grand Jury CBS: Grand Jury ABC: Grand Jury MSNBC: Grand Jury CNN: Grand Jury Fox News: Is Hillary Clinton a secret Isis agent. Jk Trump Rally TBF they did cover it, but most of the coverage is focused on discrediting Mueller or claiming this is a "investigation in search of a crime" (witch hunt). So a lot of this stuff gets ignored or massaged and presented in a manner to be made less significant. Just Sean accusing a Republican Bush appointee, who was CIA director after 911, a criminal with 0 evidence. So it's not shocking to me a lot of his core supporters are sticking with him in this environment. That being said, fewer people are identifying as Republicans according to recent polling by Nate Silver and others...

So it's not shocking to me a lot of his core supporters are sticking with him in this environment. That being said, fewer people are identifying as Republicans according to recent polling by Nate Silver and others... Fair enough but check the Gallup poll on Republican's job approval rating of Trump: www.gallup.com/poll/203198/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspxThe cancer has metastasized well beyond the Oval if that is any indication. What's the "come to Jesus" moment for these people if it hasn't happened yet? We've had plenty of "Jesus Christ" moments with this president and few on the right side of the aisle, apparently, have been swayed. His approval numbers overall keep sinking and, yet, these people are still in his sinking boat paddling like crazy with his supporters saying that his boat is more buoyant than any boat that's ever set sail. Bizarro world we're living in. I'm sure there are plenty of horrible people on both sides of the aisle as there are in every facet of life. But to have that percentage of people approve of this ignoramus and have these be our elected officials, to me, is a gigantic problem. If things were to have been flipped and Hillary was an absolute disaster, yet other Dems were still clinging to her flaming parachute, I'd be equally enraged. Where did the sense of duty and having a backbone go? I get that it's all about re-election but damn. Who would want to be re-elected to this dumpster fire? It's like a UMCP victory party without the booze but with all of the couch burning and property damage inflated by a circumference of about 25,000 miles.
