A couple of comments. First of all, I disagree with those who think that Obamacare should be immediately replaced. First of all the increases vary across the country. Actually, the increases have slowed down.
Most consumers are shielded from these price hikes, especially if they return to the exchanges to shop after enrollment opens Nov. 1. Some 85% of Obamacare enrollees receive federal subsidies, which can lower their premium to less than 10% of their income. The subsidies are pegged to the second-lowest cost silver plan in their area, known as the benchmark plan. Remember, that 20-25 million people have insurance that they wouldn't have had but for Obamacare. Also, I cannot believe that Congress (Democrats and Republicans), will be able to design and implement any kind of alternative that will be acceptable to both parties.
Finally, The price of medicine is exploding and will continue to expand (Obamacare or no Obamacare) as there are 3 factors pushing the price of care upward. 1. Normal inflation 2. Exploding geriatric population 3. New technology. The answer?? The government HAS to step in and control the needless tests are being ordered.
My favorite example is outrageous over ordering of MRI of the back and neck. Unless the patient is to have surgery or there is suspicion of a spinal order lesion or a syndrome called Cauda Equina (which have very specific symptoms), these MRIs are worthless. Doctors have been ordering these and now patient are expecting them. Why do I say this.
1. MRIs of the back or neck have no effect on treatment at all. Treatments are never changed because of the MRIs of the back or neck. 2. If you grab people over 64 off the street who have no back or neck pains more than 50% have herniated discs and 100% will have multiple abnormalities on their MRI of the spine. 3. A couple of years ago, there was a large study where they took patients with low back pains with radiation down one or both legs and performed MRIs of the back on half of them. Then they discussed the results of the MRIs with those who had the studies. GUESS WHAT?? The half of the patients who did NOT have the MRIs had better outcomes.
Now I will get off my soap box.

Surprise they have no plan... Privately they acknowledge it will hurt Americans and any money saved would have to be put towards the implementation of the replacement plan they don't have..

Kansas voted yesterday to join the medicaid expansion. Today we have this:
On a side not in addition to fixing the Middle East and making sure government is run like a business, Kushner is in charge of solving the opioid crisis...

On the same day, Tom Price: 1. Bought $90K of drug stock. 2. Pushed to kill a rule that would hurt drug profits. www.propublica.org/article/tom-prHard to explain these things away when this is the 3rd time he's been caught doing similar activities. Also hard to believe how brazen he is..

Good enough for our constituents, not good enough for us... Meet the new boss... same as the old boss. Meh... Not buying it. The Trump admin is different than every other administration in US History despite attempts to normalize his incompetence and corrupt practices.... We've never had a Republican or Democratic President act this way..

We've never had a Republican or Democratic President act this way.. I agree, but the response is correct in that this is not an example of that. This is business as usual when it comes to legislation, sadly. We need to fire them all and restart. It's the only solution - and obviously will never happen.

This particular bill strips the ACA's pre-existing conditions protections.... But it exempts members of congress. I feel you but that's pretty brazen even for modern standards. I understand the sentiment but I personally don't believe they're all bad or one party is all bad etc... IMO that's how a charlatan like Trump gets air. If all options are bad options the unthinkable option looks a lot more palatable. I think there's some good people on both sides, and the really bad ones in both parties love it when we say they are all awful..

mashable.com/2017/05/04/bernie-sanders-trump-healthcare/#MQbQ3K8ssiqK"Right now Obamacare is failing. We have a failing — I shouldn't say this to our great gentleman and my friend from Australia, because you have better healthcare than we do," Trump told Turnbull, referencing Australia's publicly-funded, universal healthcare system. You can't make it up...

It will be very interesting to see what if any of this Bill can pass the Senate.
Obamacare is bad legislation and unsustainable on a cost basis.
This may be worse.

You also can't make this up: www.cnn.com/2017/05/04/politics/obamacare-pre-existing-conditions/"...many of the people most in favor of repealing and replacing Obamacare are also the people most likely to be directly affected -- and not in a good way -- if the new GOP bill becomes law." People have been duped into believing that things like ISIS and Mexicans crossing the border are more of a threat to their well-being (and that of their friends and family) than diabetes, or heart disease, or drug addiction, or mental health issues, or (for many women) complications from pregnancy and childbirth. The bill that passed yesterday was a giant middle finger to so many Americans, including women, the poor, and the elderly. Watching Trump, Ryan, and a bunch of other privileged white guys yucking it up in the Rose Garden to celebrate it was appalling. What's even more appalling is that they know that many of the people they just screwed will turn around and vote for them again in 2018 and 2020. I also found it appalling that House Dems couldn't just shut up and taunted their colleagues in the chamber - but that's the world we live in now. Civility is a relic of the past (all across society - not just on Capitol Hill). We'll see what the Senate does.

In a shocking development, Aetna announces its intention to pull out of all ACA Exchanges.
Anyone who was being honest about the ACA knew it was deeply flawed and likely unsustainable. Those chickens are now coming home to roost.
The cynic in me has always said ACA was designed to catastrophically fail and be replaced by single payer which was always the Goal.
The problem now is that the Democrat is no longer I. The White House...
